don't look too desparate....don't dress too sluty but have a little cleavage out there....try to not only talk about your friends or your ex.....don't talk about shoes, make-up or clothes the whole time either because you don't want to look like you're high maintenance. Then try to be yourself without talking the whole time. Let the guy talk too. Also try to talk about guy things a little....like sports or cars or video games or something. Guys like girls who can have a "man" type conversation. Good Luck!!!

I love a quiet, relaxed, no pressure first date. We guys are just as nervous as you are. "Chrstnwr" has a great idea - taking a walk. I've done that on my best first dates. First dates are a bit nerve wracking, so I don't want a big meal. An appetizer and a half glass of wine - then a walk or just find someplace quiet to sit and talk. Find interests in common to discuss. I do want to hear about the woman - what she enjoys doing - maybe goals in work and relationships, but keeping it light. There is no great rush. If it clicks, it clicks.
You have other good suggestions above about dress, etc.
DO NOT jump in bed right away. The better guys like to work up to that and make it special. Of course, I may be an out of date, romantic fool - - - nope, I really am exactly that. LOL
Good Luck.
My dad always said there are lots of people out there for us.
It may take a lot of first dates to find the right fit for both.
I've had good luck (and I don't mean 'scoring') on the internet - primarily because we can talk in a relaxed setting first.
Internet conversations beforehand make first dates much easier.

I would like to know the same thing, however, here's an idea that I would like to try should I get a first date with someone.

Instead of a fancy dinner at a fancy restaurant all dressed up, how about a day in the park? Get a picnic lunch and just hang out in your everyday jeans-and-t-shirt wear?

Or just go to the movies during the day and take a walk around the mall afterward? It's low-key and you wouldn't feel too nervous about trying to impress the guy. He's probably as nervous as you are, too.

1. Dress appropriately, don't go tarty looking
2. Make sure you don't ramble on about your ex boyfriends all the time
3. Don't get drunk
4. Think of topics of conversation in case there are any awkward silences
5. Don't jump into bed with him on the first date.
