It seems pointless to defend yourself or attack a position utilizing the same publication that others find as not a defendable position. That makes the arguments non-sequitur. If the Bible's quotes are so old and re-translated that they have to be constantly studied and interpreted, shouldn't there be another way to find communication and common ground?

Should not the pro-Bible types have access to other publications including ones NOT based on the Bible to quote? Or is the Bible this exclusive?

To someone dependent only on the bible to prove their case, they really have no other choice.

But I understand the frustration of a non-bible believer trying to reason with a bible believer who thinks it is 100% infallible, accurate, DIRECT word of God. To them just quoting it is proof enough.

They do not realize they must first PROVE the bible is justified to be the ONLY ultimate and absolute final authority because it is:

1. Infallible
2. Accurate in EVERY way
3. Prove it actually CAME from God.

After they do that they must next prove that THEIR exegisis and interpretation is the CORRECT one.

You cannot launch off into ANY logical argument with a bible believer unless they satisfy those ground rules.

I don't believe that people who are trying to explain something about God and the Bible, should use Bible quotes in their answers. This just infuriates the askers of the questions...particularly if the askers are atheists or people who are not certain what they want to believe. Bible quotes are not helping those people.

Heck, I don't even like to see too much of the Bible quoted--and I know much of it...from Sunday School, Confirmation Class, etc. It's just not something that should be quoted on a sight such as this.

"a stupid man can act clever
but it takes a clever man to play the fool

when a fool seems a clever man playing the fool he laughs and thinks how daft the man is

when a clever man sees a clever man playing the fool he sees behind the the mask"

change laugh to rebuke

ok
