Where did you get your cute little brush shaped like a mushroom?

You just wipe mushrooms before cooking. There is no need to peel and if you wash them they absorb the water

Certainly not. I use a cute brush shaped like a mushroom but I'm sure anything to wipe off dirt will do. I think you probably need to peel large flat mushrooms though.

Although I know people who do, I never done it and don't seem to make any difference at all. Seems like a waste to trow away part of the mushroom. A wash it's all they need.

No and don't remove the stalks either. Clean if you must - I've forgotten how many 'unclean' mushrooms I've cooked whilst wild camping and I think I've lived to tell the tale - just be sure of what you're eating. If in any doubt, leave it.

i have just finished a catering course and i can tell you that you don't need to peel your mushrooms, but just make sure that you wash before cutting or cooking

nope. You can get a special mushroom brush to brush them or else just wipe them with a cloth - try not to submerge them in water.

Not at all!
Also if you insist on washing them - make it a very brief affair as they absorb huge amounts of water in a very short space of time.

the little mushroom shaped brush is available at: http://www.lakeland.co.uk/product.aspx/!10173

Enjoy!

I always peel them - something all our family did (they often went out mushrooming) We never washed them unless filthy as the water ruins them. Once peeling and the stalk discarded the mushrooms were clean.
