I would like to know if you know any software that will let me configure any key on my keyboard to play a specific custom sound I want. the idea is to push a button in the numeric keypad of my laptop to play a sound.

The answer is Yes.
But you didnt mention which operating system. It is possible with Mac, very easy with Linux, and can be done with Windows. Since you didnt say what you have then I guess you have Windows, probably XP?

There is a free utility that got high ratings.
