The president in all his finery sends the christian young men and women of this nation to die professing that he is a christian God fearing man. I do not see him sending his daughter out to die in battle, nor do I see him personally running into battle gun in hand attacking the enemy. I do see him however pulling the strings not risking any of his grand lifestyle ehile the people of our nation suffer the torment of loss.

Why not just do what God told YOU to do?

"First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men,
for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. "

I Timothy 1:1-2

The US military is all-volunteer. Each and every member of the US military has signed up by choice, knowing full well that going to war may very well be a possibility.

I was in the Navy for three years; I certainly didn't want there to be a war, but I knew when I joined that it was always a possibility. I knew that before I joined, but decided to join anyway.

People in America are perfectly free to NOT join the military if they don't want to be in it. Bush's daughters are simply making that choice, as have millions of other Americans. Including, unless I'm mistaken, you.

I think there is absolutely a high level of hypocrasy in President Bush's rhetoric and actions. To invoke the Lord's name and claim to hear the voice of God guiding his decisions, yet refusing to attend to and lift up the poor and downtrodden in our own country is wrong.

Convincing our country to go to war soley based on flimsy and proven false intelligence is wrong. Sending young men and women to be maimed and killed fighting a pre-emptive war in a country that did not attack us is wrong. Figurative chest thumping, challenging that same nation to "Bring it on" is simply arrogant.

I've seen little to nothing in our current President's actions that reflect the teachings of Jesus or the professed morality the Christian religion - Old testament or New.

Since the US military is an all volunteer force, why should anyone (including Bush's daughters) be "sent" into battle, apart from their own choice of serving in the first place? There is no draft.

According to reports, President Bush is grieved over the loss of each service member who dies because of their service. As to the "grand lifestyle" you refer to, I have to ask, is he any different than any other President of the U.S. as it relates to that?

All Christians (at some point) have hypocrisy in their lives. You, for example, are violating both the spirit and letter of Christ's message in the Sermon on the Mount.

"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?" (Matthew 7:3-4)

It's a volunteer army sorry to say if they didn't want to fight they shouldn't have signed up. I know they are getting a raw deal in the middle east but no one forced them to join the military. So no I do not think Bush is being a hypocrite. I may disagree with his response to terrorism but a response was definitely needed. And that is just what the military is for.

You should consider a career in writing, there's quite a buck to be made penning smarmy meaningless froth for Harlequin romance novels. While waiting for your first advance check to clear, you might consider reading the New Testament.
By the way, I don't recall the press conference in which Pres. Bush announced that he was sending in troups to "advance Christianity". What silly blather.

I think George Bush has done a lot of damage to the cause of Christ, both in America and abroad. If he was going to invade a sovereign nation on false pretenses, with a bad strategy and an occupation spectacular only in its scandals, with the resulting death of hundreds of thousands of innocent people, I would rather he not do it in the name of Christ.

Christianity and Nationalism: A bad combination.

If his daughters would have willingly joined the armed forces like everyone there had then she would be over there fighting. No one ever said war was pretty. And who are you to say how he feeling?

Bush sends more than just Christians to war. He sends people of all or no beliefs to die in a war that should never have been waged. Any true follower of Jesus knows all wars are immoral.

Anyone who supports a war fought for all the wrong reasons, and then preaches the gospel of love is a liar and a hypocrite!

Indeed. And yet Christians vote for Republicans, despite Republicans not doing much for Christians. They give Christians a lot of lip service, but ultimately dont do very much.

They rely on a handful of issues to get the Christian vote, most notably gay marriage and abortion. But, these two issues only encompass a few Christian values. Values like peace, tolerance, and helping the poor, for instance, are things that the Republicans constantly vote against - yet Christians continue to vote for them. Its time for Christians to realise that gay marriage and abortion are not the ONLY Christan issues in politics.
