A friend in Virginia got arrested last night. I want to post a bail bond for him. What does this require an could anything come back to me if he skips town or does not show up to court or messes up again?

You lose your bail money or whatever you put up for bail if he runs. Better make sure before you end up losing.

Most areas allow 10% of the bail to be posted to allow a person to get out of jail. If that person does not show up for court, the person posting the bail/bond is responsible for the other 90%. Is he that good of a friend?

You pay a bail bonds man a percentage of the bail like %10 and then you are responsible to make sure they show up to court if they do not or skip etc you are then required to pay the other %90 of the bail money. so only do it if you are sure you have nothing to lose.

Whatever Money You Put To Bail Him Out You Will Lose If They Skip, Keep That In Mind.

You'll be on the hook for the FULL amount of the bail, you COULD be arrested yourself, and your credit goes down the tubes. Is it worth it?

posting a bail for someone is a very serius thing and u could land in deep trouble if he skips town or fails to appear at hearings.

I'd say be very careful, be very afraid. go to a bailbonds person.

Think LONG AND HARD before you do this! I'd hate to see you as yet another plaintiff on the People's Court!
