Guilt and having an OCD are not necessarily combined. If your OCD is to touch a door knob 4 times before opening the door, what guilt it that? Obviously if your OCD is that you have to stick a fork in every dog you see, then yeah... Guilt is involved.

OCD is not fun. I have had ocd over doing anything that would upset anyone. And i would worry myself all day and make it out to be the worst case senerio everytime. It got to the piont that i wouldnt make any decisions. I was fearful about failing. What you feel is normal reaction to an over 'programed' response that has been learned from very early years of life. Think about it. The most critical person around you, is YOU. Try focusing on the goal, not all the slips you took to get there. You have to WALK THROUGH the 'feeling' of guilt to get on the other side of it and miraclously...it will be Behind you,!! Ask yourself, is it guilt you feel, or some other emotion. Remember...it is a response to something you are invovled in. Change your circumstance and you'll change the response..Also, I think guilt is when you kno u did something wrong and you are hiding it. Good luck and take it slow.....:)

Absolutely you should try to not feel guilty for "small things." This can build up stress and actually make you ill. OCD is usually a way for people to feel in control, so I wonder if you feel that when you feel guilty it sort of pre-empts anyone else from thinking that? When you get the feeling, just say, "I am a good person and this is just a minor thing" and move on quickly--the more you "break up" the feeling the faster it will start diminishing.

I don't think that you need to feel guilty over things like that. Rather, you need to be okay with doing them, so that you don't feel guilty. And when you become okay with them, you no longer need to hide them. If someone were to ask you about it, you'd be okay telling them. Make yourself happy with what you are doing - make sure it's okay, then don't feel guilty or worry about what the world thinks of your "little things"!!!

It's so easy for most of us to feel guilt. But guilt is a totally useless, dead end emotion. When the feeling starts to form, short circuit it by thinking of something you're proud of doing.
