I am a teenager who wanted to do the work of Christ when I grew up. My uncle also once had a vision that I was weraing shepherd's clothing(or I would do the work of God). Recnetly, I felt that didn't want to do that when I grew up and just lead a normal life. Can't I change my future? Isn't it in my hands? I sometimes feel like a slave to God's will. Inasmuch as how much I wanted to do his work when I grew up and probably still do, I'm having second thoughts and feel like I should just lead a normal life. If I want to lead a normal life, then will my uncle's vision have to come true when I don't want it to come true? I have a little problem in my mind here and don't understand what I really want anymore. Please help me as I am scared to make a decision. (I have also thought of leading a normal life and after some years going to do God's work).

It's really a matter between you and God.
You have to be true to Him and yourself.
Isn't this really a question of who is on the throne of your life?
Is your idea of a "normal" life with or without God?
If He is your Lord, let Him be Lord.
He also knows our needs and desires, and will provide things for your good, and for those involved with you.
Pray and ask for His wisdom and direction.
Follow the promptings of His Spirit as you study His word for the answers that you need.
He is a dynamic, living and mighty God whom we serve.
You do have free will, and the consequences that go with it.
This is an important step in your life.
The answer to the question is really up to you.

Every Christian has a ministry, we believe in the priesthood of all believers. Whether your career will be in ministry or not, you will be imparting and affecting people via your faith practices even if you never say out loud what you believe. A shepherd doesn't need the sheep to think of themselves as a flock in order to minister to their needs, after all.

I believe there are probably multiple jobs that will match the giftsa nd interests you have with what God wants from you. A "calling" rarely involves God guiding you into a very specific path.

My suggestion is to go to a liberal arts college, either secular or Christian, and major in a liberal art like English or psychology. As you learn more you will start to get clear on whether you are interested in career ministry or in a career in which you will be a lay minister.

Bottom line is that you are only in your teens. God has put something inside you and you are cultivating it yourself. There are many directions in which you can go!

Being told and/or feeling that a Christian can not lead a "normal life" and "do the work of Almighty God" at the same time is one of the sneakiest lies of Satan/man.

I remember in my teen years feeling and being told that I could NOT possibly serve Almighty God AND live a normal life too. Boy, did I struggle. I saw those people like Sister Theresa, Billy Graham, and the missionaries from our church, state, & nation going all over the world as the ONLY examples of what REAL Christians who loved and served Almighty God were.

I totally did not see, much less realize that first and foremost, Jesus Christ asks us to be a "light in a dark world". He asks us live our daily lives so that Jesus will shine through us and people will see Jesus' heart and love for mankind through how we live each day of our lives.

Some of the best "works of God" that I have accomplished have been through my daily reactions with people, strangers, neighbors, and friends. To be patient when faced with impatience; to be kind to the unkind; to see a need and to fill it; to lend a hand without being asked; to take the time to listen and offer comfort to people; and to pray for those who cross our paths; and to have a smile or bring laughter to chase away sadness or loneliness is some of the GREATEST and MOST MEMORABLE God's work we as Christians can do.

Jesus loves you. He created you to be unique. Just let your light shine where you are in your daily walk with Him and He will bring into your path and life those that need a hug, a smile, an ear, a helping hand and NEED to see Jesus' heart and love in action through you.

That is what is precious and so cool about Jesus is He WANTS you to have a full rewarding "normal" life
too.

It sounds like your family have tried to influence you about what you want to do. You are a free spirit and have the right to choose. This is a God given right. Even Jesus himself had a choice as can be seen in the garden of Gethsemane and also when the devil tempted him. If God wants you it will tell you in no uncertain terms that it is calling you and it will call YOU not someone else to tell you. Remember you are equal to and just as important to God in what ever walk of life you take. If your family are trying to choose or force a future for you then they are not only disrespecting you as a unique and valued creation of God they are also showing disrespect to God itself. God chose you to be what ever it is you end up being. There are no mistakes. So chose your life and know that God respects your choice and wants what is right and best for YOU.

You control your future, not your uncle or his vision. In order for your uncle to be a prophet and for you to be bound by his vision, he would have to have multiple visions with EVERY SINGLE ONE of them coming to pass. You can lead whatever life you desire to lead and no one can force you to do otherwise. They can make it difficult, they can make you feel guilt, they can try to hinder you, but you are your own person and are responsible for your own choices in life. If God has called you to do His work, then HE will make that call known to you, not your uncle. If your uncle wants someone to do the work of God, then he should start with himself and INSPIRE you to join him, not tell you to. Pray for God to reveal His will to YOU. Take your life one day at a time and see where it leads you! God bless!

You are a kid. You are also a free agent capable of choosing whom you will serve and how diligently. How your life will turn out in the decades to come may be more than you need to wrap your mind and heart around just yet. Relax. These answers will come in time. Don't do anything that you will regret and need to repent of later but settle down.

If you are meant to be a shepard in God's Church, there is nothing that can stop you. Your "normal" life will not materialize and you will know in short order.Say a prayer to The Blessed Virgin and as the Mother of Jesus she will intercede for you to make it clear.

Do what you want to do, don't worry about your uncle's "visions" or anything like that. Your future is indeed in your own hands, and you'll be miserable if you do something you don't want to do with it.

Do what you want to do. Your uncle's "vision" will only come true if you make it do so.
