Lucifer was the Anointed Cherub. Anointed means to be set apart for Gods Divine purpose. It also means "bestowal of Gods divine favor", and "appointment to a special place or function." God had given Satan a certain amount of power and authority. But he perverted that power. Lucifer wanted to exalt himself above God... rather than "just" being the Angel of God.
Lucifer was created perfect in all his ways, but iniquity was found in him. It was not put there by God. Lucifer created it.
( this is found in Ezekiel 28:15 )
Like man, the angels were created perfect, and with a free will. Satan was lifted up because of his beauty, he corrupted the wisdom by reason of his brightness (This is in Ezekiel 28:17)

By the Christian definition of God:
God created everything. So God must have created Lucifer/Satan.
God is omnipotent. He could have created Lucifer in any form, instead he created him as he is.
God is omnicognizant. God had to know exactly how Lucifer would end up. But he went ahead and created him anyway.
It looks pretty clear cut to me.
In addition. Lucifer is not omnipotent, nor omnicognizant. So Lucifer can not thwart any plan that God has or want to implement. Meanwhile being omnicognizant God knows exactly what Lucifer is planning to do. Being omnipotent he can thwart any action the Lucifer is going to take.
So, any action that Lucifer actually succeeds in taking MUST have approval of God. Lucifer can only act within God's plan.
With the definition of God and the Devil that Christianity has put upon these characters these are inescapable logical conclusions.
The entire concept of God makes no sense to me, that is why I'm an atheist.
Edit:
All of the above posts miss an important point. The Christian God is claimed to be omnicognizant. He knows EVERYTHING. He had to know what would happen to Lucifer, all the things he would plan and do, EVERYTHING about the potential Lucifer before he actually created him. So, in the act of creating the perfect angel of Lucifer God knew exactly what was going to happen.
I'm sorrry. But if the claims of your mythology result in huge logical flaws, that is not my problem. the people who claim the mythology is true need to come up with a valid explaination.
And how does a perfect being develop a flaw anyway? Is that not an imperfection? How does a perfect being have an imperfection? This is a contradiction in terms.
Nearly everyone above is just glossing over the Christian claims of God and Lucifer to avoid the logical conclusions of those claims.
The only one above who admits this is Primoa1970. And his response? As I see it, basically he says:
Yes. It makes no sense, but don't ask awkward questions and believe anyway.
Well that argument is really going to convert me. (NOT)

No. It's absolutely not true.
God did create lucifer--- but as an angel. He once served God at the beginning.
What God did, though, was give everyone the freedom to do what they pleased and behave as they wanted. With that freedom, some chose not to obey (lucifer--- the fallen angel, or think of Eve-- disobeying by eating the apple).
So, with freedom of choice people sometimes make bad decisions. Only THEY must take responsibility for that. God is a loving God, though, and forgives and saves. So, to answer your question: Yes, God created lucifer, but did not MAKE him be evil and torment people.

Lucifer was originally and Angel but was cast out of Heaven. God never wanted there to be evil, man made the decision to give into temptation created by Lucifer and disobey God. That is what created sin and shame, man, not God.

In Christian literature and legend, Lucifer is generally considered to have been a prominent archangel in heaven (although some sources (Book of Ezekiel 28:14) say he was a cherub or a seraph), who had been motivated by pride to lead a revolution against God, in "The War of Heaven". When the rebellion failed, Lucifer was cast out of heaven, along with a third of the heavenly host, and came to reside in the world.

No, he created lucifer as an angel. The angel rebelled against God, God knew this would happen and Satan was "thrown" down to the pitts after he and his "crew" lost.
He did not create lucifer to torment people, he is simply allowing him to do what he wishes, just he does with us.
This is a part of a larger problem in society, nobody actually factually checks anything, they just assume they know based on perception and bias and never take the time to learn anything. You could have found this answer very easily by reading

God created Lucifer as an angel, not as evil. Even the angels have free will and do not HAVE to serve God. Lucifer and 1/3 of the angels decided that they wanted to be God and tried to overtake heaven. God cast them to the earth until the time to complete their punishment comes. And you are right, your husband's thoughts don't make sense.

No !
Ezek. 28:15 tells us that Lucifer was perfect in his ways from the day that he was created, until iniquity was found in him.
Lucifer was a created being. He was perfect until iniquity (lawlessness) was found in him.
Lucifer had free moral agency. He would think and reason but somewhere along the line his reasoning became dark and twisted. He thought he could rule better than his Creator.
How long after his creation did the seed of rebellion and disloyalty to his Maker take root in Lucifer's mind? How long did it take him to act on his dark thoughts? God doesn't tell us. We do know that Lucifer and the angels were in existence at the creation of the earth and that, apparently, Lucifer, before he turned to evil, had some type of office, or rulership.

God did create satan(lucifer)though i agree with you not for that reason,God created satan in my opinion for many reasons though your husband is right satan is the accuser of the brethren that wasnt Gods sole purpose for his creation Gods ways are higher than ours and we may never know the exact reason but God is love and it is food for thought

Ah...no. Before there was an Earth, God asked who would be the one to Save the world. Lucifer was all "I will. I go down there and MAKE them behave, but in return, I get the credit for it." Then Jesus Christ came forward and said "I'll do whatever you tell me, Father, and the Glory will go to you." Or something to that extent. So God chooses Jesus Christ to be the Savior, and Lucifer throws a hissy fit and attempts a hostile takeover of heaven. When that doesn't work, he and the 1/3 of the heavenly population who were trying to help him, go down to Hell.
That's always been my understanding and belief.
