I am a Christian. I obviously believe in God and Jesus, but
I'm not sure it is right to worship Jesus. I thought the bible says that no one is above God and we are to only worship Him?
I know Jesus is awesome for living a perfect life and the fact that He is God's son, but Jesus got his guidence from God. He was able to do all he did because of God, I know we should strive to be like Jesus and use Him as an example for how we should live (if we want to please God). But, should we worship Him? When people say "thank you Jesus" while praying, shouldn't they be thanking God first? God made Jesus. Also, When I say my prayers I end it with "in the name of Jesus" since the bible says that through Jesus we reach God. Does that mean that Jesus is God's messenger, or does our prayers go directly to God. Is the Holy Spirit Jesus' spirit or God. I know that they are "all one" but Jesus walked the earth and was created by God, and he still seeked guidence from God;doesn't that make them separate?

Regarding Mr Kemp's comment.
How is my question stupid? I read a lot; I'm a UOP student.
I have been wondering this for a long time but afraid to ask.
You said they are the same but if they are the same then Why not just pray to God?

Am I wrong for asking this question? I do believe that Jesus died for our sins, and I accept him as my savior. I just want to be sure that GOD is ok with people praising and worshiping Jesus as God.

The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus is God. We can only know this through the Word of God - the Bible.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.
Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made....And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:1-3-14
"Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,
who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,
but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.
Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:5-11

"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together."
Colossians 1:15-17

"Then He said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see My hands. Reach out your hand and put it into My side. Stop doubting and believe."

Thomas said to Him, "My Lord and my God!"
John 20:27-28

We read this when Stephen was martyred:
"But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. "Look," he said, "I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God."
At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul.
While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." Then he fell on his knees and cried out, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." When he had said this, he fell asleep."

Acts 7:55-60

And in heaven, we see Jesus, the Lamb of God worshiped together with the Father:

"Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands,
saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing."

And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying, "To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever."

And the four living creatures kept saying, "Amen " And the elders fell down and worshiped. "

In Revelation the Glorified Jesus is still 'second' to God.

Rev 1:1The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him

Rev 3:2'Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God.

Rev 3:14"To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God, says this:

Jesus is the Beginning of the creation, The Firstborn (olderst) of all creation. (Col 1:15)

Jesus' Glory is that he is the image of God, if we believe Jesus is more or less than an image we are being blinded by Satan. (2 Cor 4:4)

The testimony of the John chapter 1, is that the apostle John, John the Baptist, & Nathanael all say Jesus is the Son of God, and the manification of God, but not that he is God.

Footnote to the NAB of John 1:1

God(2) without the definite article denotes a quality and not an identification.

Jesus has the qualities of God, but is not God.

First, God did not make/create Jesus. Both God and Jesus are eternal.
No, it is not okay to pray to Jesus. The Bible only gives examples of prayers to God the Father. Our prayers go to God through Jesus. So, we direct them to God and say "in Jesus' name."
It must be okay to worship Jesus because He accepted worship here one earth and we know He is perfect/without sin.
May God bless

To all intents and functions God did die that day: Jesus is God. What God made first. The most effective change among the Father and the Son is that the Father used to be his possess starting at the same time the Son used to be created- Together they made the angels and the Earth. Together with the accessories of the Earth they made guy. (Yes I am summarizing an whole Bible so I have got to be transient) To carry guy to be appropriate to God (that's God's acknowledged target) they need to observe their possess morality (the Jews had been selected to be clergymen to the arena) and immortality (that's why Christ needed to die- so he might upward thrust once more and deliver us that capabilities). Whatever suffering that Jesus felt, I am definite the Father felt similarly, even supposing separated from it. (see Paul's letters). Pray in this and notice if God offers you the equal knowledge. God bless!

Jesus was God.

If you read in the later books in the bible it explains the trinity Jesus prayed to his spirit form because hew had became flesh not only that layed every sin of man upon himself so actually he became lower then man just to save us all. This isnt the first time God has appeared to Man in a Man form. If you remember He appeared with two other men that were angels to Abraham.

to sum it up Jesus prayed because he lowered himself from heaven and the spirit of God. He became Sin for us therefore he was lower then dirt for us to save us. And this is not unbelievable because God did the same thing to abraham when God went to abrahams tent in the body of a man with two other men that were angels.

in the gospel of John it also says in the beg their was the word and the word was God then the word became flesh.

Jesus also pronounced while teaching to many of the jews and pharisees " Before Abraham was born I Am" and didnt God tell moses that his name was I Am?

to continue one of Jesus's diciples asked Jesus, Lord Show us the father that is all we need. and Jesus said You have been with me from the beginning yet you do not know me, whoever sees the Son sees the father so why do you say show us the father?

Also Jesus told the pharisees the father and I are one.

but also don't worry about if you say Jesus in your prayer or God in your prayer either way your praying to the same figure. dopnt worry about it God knows your heart.

Jesus is God. He is the same God who gave us the Bible. Jesus was here in the earth as human, but He was still the same God. Read John 1:1

Jesus was not "created by God". He IS God.

Follow along now:

1) John 1 - The Word is God. Check.

2) The Word became flesh (Jesus). Check

3) Jesus is God. Period.

Since in Philippians 2 it says, "One day every knee shall bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God the Father" we should worship Jesus. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords- when Jesus was here on earth, He depended on the Father- it was an example of humility- No, Jesus was uncreated- He was here before time began- Jesus was born on earth- to be like us, so that we could become like Him. Read the book of Revelation- to see how we are to worship Jesus.

YES, worship Jesus. Jesus IS God. Jesus has always been present as part of the Trinity. Jesus’ body was created, but Jesus himself was not created.

Jesus wasn't created by God, He is part of the trinity.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God. Jesus is the word.

You are absolutely supposed to worship Jesus. He is the reason that we can reach God. Jesus is our intercessor in heaven, and is praying for us always. We again say In Jesus name, because the veil was torn, through his torn body, and death, and resurrection.

According to Christianity, God and Jesus are one in the same with the Holy Spirit. Worshiping Jesus is just like worshiping God.

Stop being stupid and go read a book.
