A home, boat or other property owned by the defendant, may be seized during the trial or as part of the sentence.

Yes, if they have filed the necessary paperwork for an asset forfeiture they can and are still within the states time limit. Every state has a statute that spells out the time limit the police have to go after assets that are deemed to be used in the commission of a crime or gotten from the proceeds of a crime.
