A cold sore is a form of the herpes simplex virus (i.e. fever blisters, chicken pox, shingles, genital herpes) it is as I said a virus and can take as long as a couple of weeks to go away. There are several over the counter medications for this or you can go to your doctor if this becomes a continuous problem. They can be caused by an oncoming illness, stress and the amount of stomach acid in your stomach.

I am assuming you mean a sore which is usually on you lips and can be very painful and the skin split? This is a type of herpes and when your system is down it will flair up and cause these sores. Sometimes the sun can set them off and sometimes stress. Punch a hole in the end of a vitamin E tablet and squeeze some of the E directly onto the sore and repeat every time you think about it. Carry some E in your pocket (and it usually doesn't even leak when it has been pierced) They should be gone in a day or two.

Eat a good diet of fruits and veggies, and give your body the nutrition it need to fight the bacteria. You never get rid of this bacteria in your system it will just go dormant until your system allows it to flair up again. The best thing you can do is stay healthy with a good diet.: fruits and veggies, limited meat, no dairy, nothing white, water and exercise and AVOID FAST FOOD JUNK.

A herpes simplex two or something like that all I know its herpes and it goes away, if you properly care for it. I had this friend who was messing around with hers and it permanently scared her lip, now she has a bump on her lip that is very noticeable.
