We all know that Cal, LA etc are the backbone of the US economy, and that the oil industry will soon run out of dollars, so, in the spirit of closing the borders...Should all American States take up the right to patrol their borders and expel undesirables?

I don't think that the states realize exactly what rights they have, and if they do, they are still afraid of losing Fed. $$$ by enforcing what the Feds are afraid to enforce. The anti-immigration lobby is afraid of appearing racist. Basically, IMHO, it's all a big show and posturing. Who wants to look bad, who wants to do anything before an election, and all we have in America amymore is "Pre-election" and "Post-election". We can't talk about it before, and if we don't talk about it before we sure as heck can't do anything about it after -- there're too many other campaign lies (oops, promises) to try to fulfill, and before ya know it, we're coming up on yet another freakin' election.
Lock the door and make everyone do it legally -- we don't want people NOT to come, just do it properly. None of this full or partial amnesty bulls--- either.
Given enough time, I think the Democrats would "peacefully" annex Mexico and put everyone on some kind of government program to "ease them into" the new Western economy, full of "dollesos" and so on. (rolls eyes) When can I move to Switzerland? At least I'd learn the language first!

Have a great night!

Recent crack downs on illegal immigrants at large companies haven't done enough to make hard working, tax paying citizens feel any better about our bleak outlook. We are headed for a serious recession and here we are supporting tons of illegals ie; food stamps, welfare, health care, housing, education, prison etc. They come here and have child after child pulling benefit's that most citizens cant qualify for and our government turns and looks the other way. The free trade agreement has sent hundreds of companies across the border(been there, seen it) and yet they still come, why??Our government is practically rolling out the red carpet giving them everything they could possibly need. Closed borders, heck, where's the sign up sheet!

I am in favor of getting the US Border Patrol out of the hands of the federals and into the hands of the Governors. The US government headed by 'The Decider' isn't going to use them effectively only just as a figure head for a front. I think the Governors would do a much better job of letting them do their job. I would also would like to change their name to the 'Defenders of the Homeland' if that were to happen.

i think we are spending a lot of money on guarding the borders... i say, as we come across them, traffic stops, job sites, jails etc... if they do not carry any form of identification and can not prove where they were born, then they are kicked out of the country... they can get a one way flight anywhere but here... i think zero tolerance is what is in order here... period.
i realize this seems harsh, but under the circumstances, i think a little harshness is necessary... and at this point being nice and easy hasn't done us any good...

YES, we should get rid of all the ones that have a bad rap sheet. But then again there could be states that don't want to get rid of the bad ones. US needs to crack down and figure out what we are going to do, instead of letting things go undecided. We need to deport the bad and help the good that actually contribute to us.

If the Fed won't get a plan, then yes, the states need to take care of this problem. The Fed has drug their feet on this one so that more people can come across the boarder. We all need to police the boarder because they aren't going to stop coming. Deport them all to Iraq.

Unfortunately the states have been forced into this role due to the feds failing to do one of the few jobs MANDATED by the constitution. To protect our borders!
