is it illegal to own a used undercover police car that still has the hidden lights, sirens, tinted windows, pushbar, etc, even if ur not trying to impersonate a cop? (in new york)

theres a local radio station and they have a cop car with multi colored lights and everything but with their radio details and stuff on the side, they use it for advertisment and to get peoples attention, how is this not illegal?

And since all of that equipment is removed before sale of the vehicle, it would look like you are trying to impersonate if you re-installed it.

sort of -- they sell used police cars at city auctions -- but they strip most of the police stuff off -- can't use the sirens or the lights -- tinted windows are illegal in many states -- they usually have really high mileage -- but the push bars are really useful ---

yes. Whoever sold it to you, should have taken the hidden lights, sirens out.
They sell used Police cars here, and everything is taken out.

Most of these vehicles have the equipment removed before sale. It is illegal in most areas to have it in/on the vehicle. Does not matter what your intentions are.
