You don't say how old you are. 3 hours is not too long for you to spend it alone. You have homework and you have a dog to take care of and protect you. Instead of being another problem for your mother, who has just come here also and who is now the sole support of your family, you need to grow up alittle and help out. You can make the beds, clean the bathroom, and maybe even start dinner. Make sure your mom has dinner waiting, even if its soup and sandwiches, or maybe she can use a crockpot and put dinner in it and by the time she comes home from work, you can have the table set.

This is a really hard time for your mom, and I know you are lonely but it sounds like its just temporary.

Are there any school activities you could stay after school for? How about volunteering at a local animal shelter or nursing home or hospital? Perhaps you could check out the neighborhood and see if any young mother's need a mother's helper or elderly neighbors need someone to help with errands or chores. helping others will help you to feel useful and alleviate your loneliness. Good luck and God Bless.
