Do you mean the incident regarding the professor and the nooze hanged on her door? I guess Columbia being in NY is one of those places where they want to be in good terms with everyone and they have a wide diversity of guest speakers from every part of the world. They dont follow a specific political line, they want to please everyone and this brings some hatred. I, on the other side, dont care much as I respect all opinions, whether I agree or not, everyone had the chance of expressing their point of view.

The egos and IQ levels at Columbia are staggering. Regardless it is still one of the top universities in the world and if you are brilliant they are willing to listen to you and if they disagree, they will tell you.

because they say that they promote freedom of speech and invite an evil dictator to their university, then they have conservative leaders speak and shout them down.

No more than anywhere else. Just some people see that something makes the news, so they do something related because they want to be "famous"
