How do you start a conversation after an awkward silence? What do you say?

It usually happens when I'm with my friends then theres nothing left to talk about and it's like, cough...... smile..... look away.

How about you sort of laugh to break the tension (not as in haha really loudly but just sort of a giggle) and then start talking to the person next maybe about the weather.

Just kidding, usually high I'm (insert name) and get to why you want to talk, meeting the first time, friend of a friend, etc. The more basic the topic and conversation, the easier it is to get through.

me and my friends we acuatly had this conversation and we said when something comes silent we make up some word by two things we see like tree and a weed treed or weeet we are weird people then we begin talking again

Ask questions, lots of them. Those usually spawn various conversations.
It could be aas simple as, "what ringtone is on your phone?" which could lead to a discussion on modern technology, etc.
