I know its rip-off isn't it? BT do the same thing, in fact nearly all the companies do now. Its called a processing fee or something. If there ever comes a time when they owe you money would you be allowed to charge a processing fee? Nope. Because we allow it to happen, it will always happen. I sent BT a email of complaint about their charge of £4.50 processing fee, and they did not even bother to reply back.
All we have done is swapped the banks ripping us off to the telephone, TV, Internet etc....ripping us off.
Maybe we should all stand together and boycott it, that way they will not charge.

Nope. they are charging you for the cost to them of providing a monthly invoice and processing your payment by means other than the easy and convenient (to them) Direct debit. I don't think 4 quid to do that is unreasonable.... it is about 30 minutes of an office staff member's time to prepare the invoice, receive your payment and prepare whatever paperwork needs to be done to bank your non DD payment.

Why dont you want to do it Direct Debit.
It is the easiest, cheapest, most hassle free way of paying.
The you are paying involves a lot of manual effort on their part so 4 quid is quite acceptable.

£4.00 does seem an awful lot. Most companies only charge about 50p or so.
You should defiantly complain because if lots of people complain then they will reduce it.

You should go woth Virgin then they add £6 on for so-called "administrative charges". I rthink it's more like being bullied to pay via direct debit. It's my money, I'll pay how I like!
