The short answer is no.
General Order Number 1A basically rules out any consumption of alcohol by any service member while in Iraq, Afghanistan or Kuwait. They serve alcohol in the International Zone (IZ) in Baghdad, but that's only for the civilians stationed there. Soldiers who go to Quatar on Pass can have four (4) drinks per day, but even that is limited to a certain time in the evening and the ammount is limited. Any service member found in posession of alcohol, or any items containing consumable alcohol are subject to Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) action. They aren't even authorized to consume alcohol during movement to or from theatre.
Non-Alcoholic beer (A.K.A. Near-Beer) is available in all Army/Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) shops and some Moral, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) facilities. They are able to drink anything without a considerable alcohol content such as water, gatoraid, soda, juice, more water and on top of that they can drink water. Besides the mentally debilitating effects that alcohol has on the body, it also dehydrates you. Dehydration in an extremely hot and arid environment can kill you.

Close to the end of deployment, my husband's unit had several men in a company that got drunk. Some, post offices don't check the overseas mail and take your word for it when you say there is no liquids in the box. Everyone that was caught got demoted when they returned to the states. So, the answer is no they are not allowed. How can they be ready for an enemy attack when they are plastered? And why would a soldier want to take the chance?

they have bars in the green zone i think. And by the way, many Muslims drink too. It's illegal in muslim law, but many homes have a stash of wine or something, or at least the youth try it out.
