I have noticed over the past few months that when I drink one or two glasses of red wine in the evening, the following day I feel sort of weak and dizzy, almost faint. In fact, I did faint one day following a night of consuming 3 glasses of red wine this summer. It seems there is a correlation between my drinking red wine and feeling strange the next day, but not the common "wine" headache or anything.

I just started to drink red wine this summer, so I can't say I have ever had a reaction in the past from drinking it.

Has anyone heard of this before? Is this a wine allergy? Or can red wine just cause strange hangovers?

My motto is "wine is the devil". I have always had problems drinking it (red) more than a glass or so, and not the same effect with other alcohol. No science behind my answer, just personal experience.

That did happen to me a couple of years ago if I had more than 1 glass. I was led to believe it was the sulfides. I now only have 1 glass at a time to avoid these feelings.
You must realize that most wineries use pesticides very heavily and you may be reacting to the chemicals, some of us (me included) are very sensitive to chemicals.

Hope you find the solution because red wine is a beautiful drink.

Red wine does have some chemical in its makeup which can cause headaches, it affects me if I have more than half-a-glass. For a better answer there should be experts who could give you a more definitive reason.

sulfites can cause problems with some wine drinkers headaches and some get stomach aches, but Winestyles suggested that he find wines that are organic. I have had some organic wines and are pretty good.

If you drink wine without eating food you will get buzzed because you need food in your stomach to absorb the alcohol and drink your wine slowly by taking small sips at a time.If you have any more problems ask your Doctor.

If you have allergies, red wine can have histamines in it, from fermenting on the skin (if you are not bothered by white wine, sulfites are not your issue, whites usually have more sulfites than red).
