Hi all,

My girlfriend and I will be celebrating our anniversary this Friday and I'm looking for a fun activity to do with her. I live in the city, but I haven't found much time to go out and find things to do, so I'm a little lost for ideas. She's 19 and I'm 22 and I'd prefer something out-of-the-ordinary and fun and creative. Money isn't really an issue, but I'm not looking to spend hundreds of dollars for the activity, so cheap and original ideas are preferred. Bonus points to anyone who can recommend a place to go to eat that's nearby afterwards. I'm located on the upper westside, but location doesn't really matter as long as it's accessible by some type of public transportation! Thanks in advance.

There's a Mexican restaurant on Fifth Avenue about four blocks from Washington Square Park. Hang out in the park, check out the artists, musicians, and all other entertainers. Then walk to the Mexican restaurant, which sometimes have live music and a bar upstairs. I think the restaurant is called Cantanero or something like that.

The Metropolitan Museum - 82nd and Fifth
they are open Fridays until 9, you can have dinner, and see at least a couple of galleries of art works, and do a little Christmas shopping, and get gifts for each other: jewelry ( museum reproductions) art books,
posters and post cards, engagement calendars for 2008 .... (admission: donation)

take the 79th Street Crosstown bus or the one at 86th Street .... or you can get the bus across the top of Central Park and down Fifth: it stops right in front of the museum

The Met, then Buon Gusto (Italian) on 77th, neat the Met. Affordable.
For a really awesome meal and view, check out the River Cafe, which is underneath the Brooklyn Bridge in Brooklyn. Expensive.
