I use the Bible scriptures and this book has more evidence of it's truth then any other book of antiquity.

The Bible is the Word of God. And upon His Word is what I base the authority and proof of my knowledge and belief. Everything else is man's opinion, philosophy, or imaginations.

For Mr. Schneb

The words in Bible you read are not the words of God. These are the words of Translators. Unfortunately you have translation of a translation of a translation. That is why Christians have problem in understanding it. There are too many contradictions that has caused too many sects.

It is clearly written in translations of Bible that Jesus often said his followes to worship Father. He himself worshipped father, yet Christians say Jesus is God. Where does it come from.

Too many of your younger generation are atheitst and agonostics. Why is it so? Because they are not buying the varying statements of Churches. Churches have failed to guide people's behaviour. Younger generation does not believe what Bible or Priests says. 95% girls and boys in schools are involved in fornication. A great majority of single adults are practicing sex before marriage. Why it is so?. Parents minds are screwed up. They oppose teaching abstenance from sex and want teachers to teach students about safe sex and parents are giving them condoms. What is it? Is it a curse of God or what?

Bible is collection of stories written by diffeent people with contradicting statements. You don't have the exact words that Jesus Christ spoke.

On what authority and expertise Christians can base knowledge about God?

Nothing clear is the answer.

I spend an awful lot of effort pushing the edge with mind-body exercise, so as to shapen my spiritual senses, so that I would have a good direct connection with God, and the spiritual realm. I am not much getting my inspiration, from ancient people, who had little knowlege of their world, or technology to control it. I believe in finding the best in spiritual ideas from all current day sources available. Traditional Religions need to be more like science, and be open to the best in new ideas. I meditate, eat healthy, do mind-body exercises, don't overindulge, and have created over 30 years, a new Astrology System, to use as a spiritual tuning devise. My focus has been almost exclusively spiritual my whole life, and I believe my very hard work has paid off.

Besides the Bible, I use the Upanishads, the Ashtavakra Gita, the Siva Sutras, The Sutra of the Supreme Wisdom, the Sefir Yetzirah, The Enneads, and the Corpus Hermeticum.

how many other "books of antiquity" have you read?

i find there to be plenty of truth in the Egyptian Book of the Dead, and the Kabalah, and the Epic of Gilgamesh and the Vedas. just as much as the OT and the NT for sure!

as for my authority to speak about God, i have none, and i can only hope that what i say is not in error, and that if it is i am forgiven

My own authority and expertise.
I do not need to lay blame on anyone else for my assessment that there is no evidence for the existence of any gods.

I have no authority or expertise to offer about Odin. He is what he is, and if you want to know something about him I suggest you ask him yourself...
Oh wait, you're a bible thumper. Don't ask him. He has a wicked sense of humor.

And, probably we both go on our studies, and the experiences from our personal applications to our lives.
