I'm not stereotyping, we all know the 'majority' of black men shave their head.

The majority of while men and other races do have short hair.

This is probably the reason why white people can't understand why do black people brush their hair when they hardly have any.

Look at all the biggest african american celebrities, Jamie Foxx, Kanye West, (even Barack Obama), and Eddie Murphy, ect.

In contrast to other males of different races, black men always cut their hair below way below an inch.

I am black myself, I have hair on my head, but why do friends and family tell me to cut it off for some reason??

I think black men should embrace their unique hair type and more people (not every black man) should stop getting these low fades, Ive had those kind of hair cuts since I was a child.

I'd never grown my hair more than 5 inches high, it's like discovering a new part of you lol.

I haven't had a low fade cut since december, what an achievement,!

I think there is a terrible legacy that has been passed down in the black culture taken from society that black hair is ugly and nappy. I personally enjoy my husbands kinky hair. It is sexy and natural. I do agree with some others that say it is easier to maintain, but I think that our society in general pokes fun of black features. As for the bald head, some men just start getting bald in he middle at early ages, so they just shave it off.

I think that is maybe a stereotype or maybe that is just the black men YOU know or may have seen. There are plenty of black men with long hair (dreads, braids, perms etc......) I think it is just a matter of preference. There are plenty or short haired and bald white men.

Medium size hair because it is easy to be able to handle and you can still carry out most of the hairstyles

I've experienced mine both ways too... but the husband prefers it short... he never ever complains when I grow it very long, but is always all over themself w/the complements when I cut it off

It may be the trend. I don't know. I'm not a guy.

I have been tolf that African-American hair is usually very dry and fragile, so maybe they don't want to heal with the hair so they cut it off...?

I don't know, lol.

So that their hair looks 'clean & tidy'. Another reason is they don't have to comb their hair.
