Sounds like your son needs a short sharp shock to get him on the straight and narrow.
Sadly, the bleeding heart liberals will assign an "mmmkay" Youth Worker and give your son a "Supervision Order" thus sending the message that crime has no real punishment.
He won't go to prison, he's only 14. But if he carries on acting like a moron then he'll be inside at the age of 18.

So your son is the only one standing in the dock. It is the prosecution who is trying to blame your son the Court or jury decided if it is proven beyond reasonable doubt. Your son's so called mate if he is the same age must be in the area. You presumably have a lawyer if not get one now. Do not rely on a dock brief. I must confess that I have a fair amount of sympathy for you but non at all for your son. My Mother was a victim of a burglary twice the second time at the age of 85

If its a youth court there is no jury just three judges, Ive always thought this was a bit dodgy as one person decides the outcome not a majority.
I would advise you & your Son to be very polite to the judge in the middle as I made the mistake of giving a judge sentencing me a bit of atitude when I was younger & I was found guilty even though there was no proper evidence.
Dont listen to most of the users above sometimes Boys just go off the rails, my Mum was strict with me but I wouldnt listen to no-one.
I would advise you to watch who he hangs around with as when were young we just want to belong & he will do what ever his mates are doing even if hes a good lad.
I know from experience its called peer pressure.
I would of thought the fact your Son is facing the music & the other fella has done a runner would make the judges give him a bit of credit.
I would advise you also to look as remorsfull as possible & I dought very much he will go to prison unless he has alot of previous.

I've sat in the Police station untill 3am waiting for my 13 yr old stepdaughter to be bailed, but thats as close as it's gotten so far. With any luck your boy will get community service if he's not known for offending, but if he's known to the police, and has been under caution before they make take it as a vrey serious matter. He's a stupid lad, and needs to know right from wrong, if he got caught by the home owner he's could have been at serious risk of a beating himself or the owner may have gotten injured. I have no sympathy for him, and he should expect to have the book thrown at him. Any lesser judgement and he should think himself lucky.

Sounds like he is getting what he deserves maybe you should have supervised him better rather than leave him to his on devices! Its not too late I know the UK legal system sucks so he'll probably get away with it I hope you and him learn from this and I hope you put a foot right up his bum and become a better parent!
