If I made 45,000 after taxes this year, and claimed 1 dependant until April, then in April I claimed 3 dependants, and I don't have any right offs such as a mortgage, just rent totalling 685 a month, do you think I will get any money back at the end of the year? I really hope so b/c I need it! I am married and she doesn't work, due to the babies, so I would file married.

If you only claimed 3, and you have "babies", you should be getting money back - since you say babies I'm assuming you have at least two children. On a joint return you'll have four exemptions, for yourself, your spouse and one for each baby, plus two child tax credits, so you should get a decent refund.

Depending on what you claim, the taxes you pay are just that payments. So if your dependacies are 3 then you would pay less out of your wages per pay period. But remember everyone has to pay taxes, although many are good at not paying them. so with regards to paying your taxes, and recieveing a return it is only a return if you over pay your taxes or have the wrong amount of dependants on your W-2. I prefer to pay at the end of the year and keep My Money where it belongs in my pocket during the course of the year.

Tax tables won't be finalized for for a while, but I believe the chances are good that you will get a return. The fact that you added the additional dependents will not you, but at your income level chances are good.
