I am not sure if I want three of my permant teeth taken out. I have a choice to or not. I still have all my wisdom teeth in. Anyone who has had braces please tell me what you experience. If I get 3 teeth taken out, won't my jaw be small, I don't think I agree with that. I'm a little unsure of all this?

I had to have four teeth removed before I got my braces. It was necessary to make room to straighten my teeth. There was just NO room and my teeth were over crowded. If your orthodontist recommended to remove them, then you should. Eventually, I removed all four of my wisdom teeth and I still don't have any gaps in my mouth. Good luck. 2D

Hi there :) If you don't feel good about it, get a second opinion from a different orthodontist. When I went for my first ortho consult, I was told I will need to have 2 healthy teeth pulled out (overcrowding on top). I didn't like that idea too much, so I went to a different orthodontist and he said nothing about removing teeth. I went with him and never had any teeth pulled (and yes, I still have all my wisdom teeth). Somehow during the course of treatment my ortho found enough room in my mouth for all my teeth, there is no crowding and no unwanted spaces. I got my braces off about a couple of weeks ago and I am really happy with the result and with all my teeth in there :)
It's always good to get a second opinion. Good luck :)

It depends where the 3 teeth are. If they are in the front, then maybe it's not a good idea. If they are in the back, I'm sure it will be fine since noone probably can see it anyway, plus you won't feel any discomfort. I had braces and I had one tooth pulled out in the back, and it didn't hurt and noone could tell. I don't think your jaw will change.

Good luck. :)

I had to have 2 teeth taken out. I had buck teeth, and if you don't get them taken out, your lips will always stick out a little too much. I hated the idea of perfectly good teeth being taken out, too, but I think that it was better in the end. Good Luck, and I hope this answer helped!

You should just get them removed, especially if your teeth are crowded. I have to get all my wisdom teeth removed before braces and maybe even another. It won't make your jaw small at all, where did you hear that false statement?
