Hello everyone,
My little girl is turning 4 and I am having her party in less than a week away...there are going to be kids there ranging in age from 1-10....I am making pizza, serving cake and ice cream, and having a pinata....other than that, I have no idea on what to do....I am strapped for cash, so i cant go all out of course. and I need some really simple, fun, inexpensive ideas for the kids to do while they are here...oh yeah, and its inside, cause its cold out. the party is going to last about 1 and half to 2 hours. Please help...lol.....

There isnt a theme, cause that gets really expensive and I wanted to spend money on her gift, not stuff that is going to get thrown away. Some of the kids that are coming are higher class than we are....and Im concerned that they will think it may be lame or a boring party. There isnt anything wrong with just letting the kids play and then having food and cake and ice cream is there? Childrens birthday parties are getting so over rated now days. Does anyone else feel this way too? Or am I just being too old fashioned lol???? =)

If you have a craft store nearby or even a Wal-mart - go into their craft isle and look for the foam kits that can be done - I usually pick them up from anywhere between $5-$10 dollars. They usually make upwards of at least 20 projects depending on which one you choose. OR go to Disney's, Nick Jr. or Sprout onlince and look for any of there craft ideas - alot of those ones use things that you already have around the house. Also, try making some plain old sugar cookies in all different shapes and get all the decorating materials and sit them down and let them go at it - plus then they can take their creations home and now you don't spend money on goody bags either cause they made their own. You can also do this with cupcakes and even mini cakes. I have tons of ideas email me and I can let you know of more...

I completely understand your delima, but you could have a theme that is cheap, we did halloween, his bday is oct 2, the pinata was a "friendly" ghost, that wasn stuff to the top. the kids to hyper any ways, and its enough to just get ahand full,, the cake was dukes of hazard, i made a two layer cake out of a box, and put food coloring in the cake mix to make it orange, and then the same with the iceing, also my fiance got a bottle of red and blue icing stick things and drew a pic of the rebel flag and a 01 on the cake....simple and orginal, cheap to.....since we did the pinata we did not do any gift bags. But for like 10 dollars you can get a dora bean bag tosser from the dollar store, and they could play that for dollar prizes from dollar tree... Go on what your child likes, does she like to color......Then get a big box of crayons. and have them color a picture on some white paper, best picture get a dollar prize or something......
But as I said, I do understand about the money and the "hi-class" kinda people. No offence. but make it more orientated for the smaller children. the older ones should understand...
IT DOESNT MATTER WHO LIKES THE PARTY AS LONG AS YOUR DAUGHTER LOVES IT. Also....THe parties these days are way over rated and the kids dont have that much fun...

There is nothing wrong with just letting the kids play. They can play as they arrive, when you think everyone is there you feed them. Then you do the pinata, open presents and they play until it is time to go home. Also, there are recipes out there to make homemade play dough! That could be fun as well!

i agree with stargirl some of the simplest of games are the most fun, musical chairs, statues, bumps, pass the parcel, and pin tail on donkey can be really fun, just purchase some cheap little gifts and wrap them up, like pencil crayons or little diaries and stuff.... or just put some funky music (for their age group) on and let them just run around enjoying themselves, best thing about children between those ages, they still have their imaginations x x good luck

If you are making the pizza yourself you could do individual pizzas instead and let the kids add their own toppings. That way it will be an activity, the will have fun, be sure to like what they are eating and it will help to pass the time.

If there is a "Chuckie Cheese" in your area, every kid loves it there. You just bring the kids, the cake. For 1 price, about $10 per child, which includes tokens for the games they play, is worth it.

Do you already have party hats? If not, get some white construction paper and crayons/markers, and start the kids off making their own hats. Kids love craft projects, and they take time!
