God created all those galaxies and stars so far away to look pretty. He also created the light traveling from them to make it look like the universe is 15 billion years old.
He also created just the right mixture of radioactive materials to make the Earth look 4.5 billion years old, just the right mixture of fake fossils in just the right layers to give credence to evolution.
He made the flood waters recede in just the right way so that it looks just like the rivers have been eroding valleys for thousands to hundreds of thousands of years, and create raised beaches etc. to make it look like that there have been several ice ages.
He reformed all the glaciers, complete with dirt embedded in them yo make them look old.
He even stashed away written records that look just like they predate the creation date. And he planted writings and records that make it look like there never was a global flood.
Quite why God did all of this is not really explained. But the bible says that God created the universe about 6000 years ago, so it must be true.
And yes, I am being sarcastic.

The only possible explanation creationist can come up with is that God can do whatever he wishes--and create things in such a manner that they are as we see them today. It's a point that one can not refute with simple logic. However, the trap for the creationists is that if God is omnipotent-then just as logically he could have inspired the writers of the bible over the ages to write an allegorical acount of creation. If it were an allegorical account, God could just as easily used natural laws and effected creation via the big bang and evolution. If he set the process in motion and "Knew" how it would turn out on this little planet--then that creation is almost more elegant than snapping things into being such as they are today. If one believes in a Supreme being then Occams razor would tell us that the simplest explanation is that God used natural laws to create. In any event the same logic of God can do anything and make anything how he pleases supports the big bang/evolution method of creation every bit as much as the snapping things into existance 6000 years ago and making them look like they were millions of years old.

People misinterpret scripture to come up with a number... Since lots of passages had to be taken and applied out of context to arrive at any number, it should not be considered valid.
Current scientific thought uses "radioactive halos" in crystals to establish a rough minimum for the age of the crystal and this was used to arrive at the 4.5 to 5 billion year range, though the age of any particular crystal may not, likely DOES not accurately represent the actual age of the earth...
We really have no way of accurately determining the age... and does this "age" begin when the crust cooled and crystals began forming or when the ball of matter which is now the earth formed into a molten blob... How could it be defined to begin with?

The earth that had existed ages and ages was prepared ages for intended inhabitant, that intended inhabitant was man, now in 2007 after Christ was in Rome world Empire #6, man is 6073 years on the ages old earth that was prepared ages for him.
At year 2513, bible begins 3560 years ago, at Moses and Exodus of Egypt world Empire #1, Gen.1:1,2 [ all existed ages before it did ], Job 38:4-7,30-32 [ Space ]; Inhabitants of heaven, angels are called morning stars and sons of God, to see the ages old earth prepared ages, Job 2:1,2; Satan is with the sons of God Eze.28:13-15; the cherub angel anointed over Eden 6073 years ago [ of 6130 allowed ], Isa.14:12-14; Lucifer means day star, the world leaders are compared to Satan. Rev.22:16; Jesus is the bright and morning star, Rev.3:14; John 17:3,5,24; Col.1:15-17; Jesus is first before all.
Noah at flood, 40 days and 40 nights rain, 375 days in the ark total, the time Noah relates to is not [ as day of God ], God's time existing already Gen.1:14; but plant life time is time man relates to, given in day, [ age, eon, era ], FOUR of God's time.
2Pet.3:3-9; At 4419 years after the flood, at 2007 after Christ was in Rome world Empire #6, how unreasonable to think noah was in the ark 375 days, when God created earth and man all at the same time in six days, how old was day [ age, eon, era ], SIX when Adam was created, 6870 years? How old will day [ age, eon, era ], seven be at the end of God's rest from creating if 6073 years [ of 6130, 130 is day six ], has already passed and that has the time in it that Adam was in day six.
Eph.2:7; 3:21; The world with Jesus, [ the first creation created in the image of God, before all ], is without end.
Matt.13:37-39; The world with Satan does end. Matt.23:3,14 [ tell the world Jesus second coming is the end of this world [ in the time of the end Dan.12:1-13; and now is 6073 of 6130 ], and the beginning of his kingdom of 1000 years, and salvation to all possible of the offsprings of Adam ];

The earth was young in the old testament. Back then it was also flat and the sun revolved around the earth. When Jesus came along he realized this was not a good idea any more so he made it round, older and made it revolve around the sun.
The problem with non-believers is they don't realize Jesus changed everything to be different than it was when the old testament was written.

Quit thinking and start believing!!!!
It makes perfect sense. God just put everything a certain distance apart at the beginning. After the creation, he was a tad weary. He sneezed, and THAT'S why everything is flying apart. He would have fixed it, but he had to start thinking of plots for daytime television dramas.

Only fools believe the earth is 6000 years old.
Then earth is of course between 4.5 billion and 4.6 billion years old and the time since the big bang event is somewhere around 13.7 billion years.
