What is an adductor strain?

My favorite soccer player has an "adductor strain." What on earth is that?? Are they serious??

Its a strain in one of the legs. An adductor strain is a strain in the inner thigh of a leg. Abduction and adduction are names for a range of motion. Thats why its called an adductor strain.

They are very painful, I know I had one and it took weeks to heal.
