HELLO,
THIS IS AN EXCELLENT QUESTION.
YES, YOU HAVE TO STUDY HARD AND BE DILIGENT WITH YOUR LEARNING.
YOU HAVE TO STUDY 4 YEARS OF UNDERGRADUATE AND 4 YEARS OF DENTAL SCHOOL.
IF YOU DO ALL THAT YOU CAN BECOME A DENTIST. A HIGHER DEGREE CAN BE ACHIEVED BY A MORE INTENSE SPECIALTY IN DENTISTRY. THIS MAY REQUIRE AN ADDITIONAL 3-4 YEARS OF STUDY AFTER YOU EARN YOUR DENTAL DEGREE.
I'VE INCLUDED A LINK BELOW TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT THEY EARN.

Actually, dental school is very difficult, but the salary now is about $175,000 for a general dentist (average). You will need at least 7 years of college. That will get you the DDS or DMD degree. Orthodontics will require 9-10 years of college as well as periodontics, pediatric dentistry, and endodontics. The oral surgery programs require a total of 11-15 years of college depending if you get an MD degree as well.
