It's possible that the judge will order House Arrest or House Arrest with Electronic Monitoring as a condition of the bail. Was this possibility mentioned at his arraignment? If not, then house arrest is probably not required at this time.

He may have conditions placed on his release as a condition of bail where he is ordered to not go to certain places. They will explain it all to him and his father when he gets bailed out.

After he admits or is found to have committed the offense, it's a possibility as part of the sentence.

No. Bail allows you to be released from jail and is a promise (monetary) that you will show up for court. Most bail is 10% of amount. If your bail is $1000, the person who bails you out pays $100. The remainer is collected if the person does not show up for court. House arrest can be ordered by the judge at the court appearance.

They are free to come and go as they please until they have to appear at their court hearing. They may be asked not to leave the state or to surrender their passport if they are thought to be a flight risk. House arrest is a type of probation where a person is allowed to remain out of jail but are not allowed to leave their house for a period of time. They may be required to wear a monitoring device.
