Ok ~ I usually have my permanant Altar in my bedroom.
I shifted it to the lounge because hubby goes to sleep early and i like to do my rituals at night when the kids are in bed. I was missing out on a lot of ritual work because of this. Now something does not seem right~ its hard to explain, like a feeling of not holding the power within my circle or not making a connection? Also my Quarter candles keep going out, yet there is no breeze.
I do have an Altar outside but sometimes its not possible to work there. And i do like to keep a permanant altar set up.
There are no other places in the house i can use.
So the question is do i shift it back to my room? Or Is there another solution?
Any advice apreciated!
Blessed Be!
Ariel

You migh try smudging the area like others have suggested and do one last ritual in the bedroom, but with a twist. Cast your circle and do everything you usually do and explain to the powers that be why you want to move the altar and ask permission and then see if they give you permission.

Before I started setting up my little altar - I don't usually do a circle - I cleansed my area before I set it up. If I do something outside I set up a stick of incense to the North, south, east, west and my candles in the middle and circling with sage and sweet grass. I say a blessing and give an offering to the spirits of fruit and leave them going most of the night. Then the area is good to start doing my rituals and prayers and things seem to do better every full moon for my indoor altar as well as my outdoor area if I do this every cycle. My energy has actually gotten stronger as well doing it.
See if this may be something that will help.
Oh, btw, I also put a quartz crystal in the middle and carry it's sister crystal (a break off piece from the larger one) with me for the next 24 hrs.

Blessings and merry meet!

Dear Ariel,

I think you need to find a space where you feel the connection to the Goddess without any other help, no cleansing or tools or anything, just you walking through it and feeling the connection. It could be any space, but the new space doesn't have that connection and my guess is that it won't. I would guess you need to find a place with natural light and that has at least a window facing East so you can see Her morning face if you do a morning ritual, or a window facing West if you are focusing on an evening ritual.

Walk around and listen to Her voice, see if She doesn't tell you where you should be.

Let me know, I'm curious.

Blessings,

did you set up a space for the altar, or just move it in where it fit? a lot of people keep altars in public rooms, especially on a hearth. if you don't have a fireplace, try incorporating the altar into the room's focal point [unfortunately, this is often the tv]. i think you just need to determine the energy flow of the room and put the altar at the nexus, rather than at a spot that the energy is just moving thru or away from.

also, think of how much more pleasant it would be to watch a tv that also happens to be your altar table than a picture surrounded by video boxes and speakers.

Hey Goodlooking.

Still think its' possible to adapt the alter in a public area. The candle's behaviour is a clue there.

Cleaning the area to start off with. Another option, you might be able to have a abbreviated version of the alter & put the more delicate/valuable items stored elsewhere.

I would try connecting to Earth in the garden, maybe with a tree or another good channel, and wait until you feel the channel centre and ground, then allow that energy to flow and connect with you and the altar before citing it. Sometimes lines of flow get confused especially n a house.

Reconnect to source, and let that be the guide of where to re site the altar too, sometimes things find a way of letting you know where they belong when you listen to them.

Blessings.

It could be that it's now in too public of a location. Try to find a more private nook.

Or, you just need to work with it more in the new location. Smudge, as suggested, and just keep working with it until it feels right. Sometimes a change in our routine can disrupt the feeling in ritual, but once the new way becomes routine that feeling of disruption should go away.

As for the candles, there is probably a draft somewhere. Check the windows.

I agree with cleansing and consecreating the area. You effectively moved your altar out of your well used sacred space, and you need to create a new one where it is now. It's still going to feel a bit "strange" even after you do this, but your circle should hold power MUCH better and the more you work in this space, the more comfortable it will become to you. :)

Try working a Sacred Space Cleansing and Consecrecration into your next ritual.

Try blessing the area. Maybe you left some of your positive energy behind, and your ritual space hasn't "caught up" yet. It just sounds like you've got a little bit of disrupted energy and need to kind of get used to the new space (and so does your altar). Good luck!

I actually disagree with pretty much every answer so far.

Candles going out is usually a big sign that something is wrong, and placement of tools or altars is usually not "wrong" but a matter of preferance.

If I were you, I would reevaluate WHY you're doing the rituals you are and why your subconscious or the divine is stopping them. But what do I know, I've only got some thirty something years experience with Pagans, over 20 of them as a Wiccan myself...so, you know, whatever. Usually candles going out is like a 2X4, most of us don't need it to happen a lot before we figure out why.

I'm assuming you're enough of a big girl to check windows and the like before you'd ask here.

In the end, nothing we say is going to change what you think is causing this, so do as you will.
