It shouldnt matter whether we are a Christian Nation or not, What should matter is that our nation as a whole is a Good one with Values and Morals. Unfortunitly, in the scheme of things, we are not anywhere near the top of the list. We have more crime and violence and sexual assaults then most countries and we are supposed to be setting an example. For one of the riches countries with one of the best economies we certainly arent what we used to be. There is so much Prejudice and hate crimes and we should be above all that! So no we dont set a good example whether we be Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Black, white, gay, straight, tall, short, rich or poor! Jesus loved everyone and so does God and his followers. I guess if we are as a nation "Christians" and that being the majority in the US then we are doing a terrible job of it!!

The system is set up so that it fights Christianity. We are not a Christian nation. Majority? Don't believe the surveys.
The majority does not always have the rule.
Read Matthew 4:8 and 9, and consider who is in charge of, or owns, what.

Actually, we do NOT have majority rule in every aspect of our lives. That's what the Constitution, and specifically the Bill of Rights, is all about. We have a rule of law to protect the rights of the minority. And we have a First Amendment right to keep government out of religion and, by logical extension, religion out of government. Of course the individual members of the government of whatever branch have their own beliefs (taking atheism to also be a "belief" in this instance), and they bring that with them when they come. But they are honor bound to uphold the Constitution, which includes the Amendments, and that means deciding on the basis of what's right for the nation, not for their religion.

Christian - unfortunately - is a term that has virtually lost its meaning. So many people with so many different beliefs call themselves "christian" that the word doesn't mean anything any more.
Follower of Christ - but who was/is Jesus Christ? Some say the Son of God. Some say a good man, a philosopher, on a part with Buddha or Mahammed. Some use the term almost generically, to designate a vague acceptance of broad-based ethical norms without a specific religious context.
Soryy - your question depends on what "christian" means, and I don't think there is a universal definition that has any meaning

The majority of Christians are not good examples at all. They have rejected the Old Rugged Cross Jesus and have chosen a modern blab it and grab it gospel. Many are only "religious" and not spiritual.
2 Timothy 3:5
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
1 Peter 4:17
For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

It depends upon where in the US you live. I was born in southern Idaho, which is Mormon country. Everyone was Mormon, if you weren't, you were the outcast. I now live in the south where there is a church, mostly baptist or pentacostal, on every corner--I am not exaggerating! There are so many of them, and the parking lots are full!
But I have lived in other places in the US where religion wasn't a big deal, and I saw no difference, really, with the people.
I even lived in Korea for a while where there are many many solid Christians--I felt that these people were, as a nation, more devoted to their beliefs in a quiet way.

WE ARE NOT A CHRISTIAN NATION!!!!
i dont know WHERE you get your facts, but less than 46% of the nation claims to be Christian. and i dont know when the last time you read the Constitution was, but let me refresh you a bit:
-we DO NOT have majority rule in the united state, we have a represenative democracy, otherwise known as a REPUBLIC
this is there to prevent "group tyrany" as Plato would put it by putting in a system of checks and balances so that the majority can not subgigate the minority to their will (or RELIGION).
-We were founded on the principle that NO RELIGION should ever interfere with the processes of state and that NO RELIGION should or would ever be superior or more favorable than the other.
-while some of the founding fathers were Christians by name, the majority of them were Deists, and remained unaffiliated with the Christian churches. Many of them were also Free Masons, who have the Bible as one of their Holy Books, and also have a secret book known only to the members as their second Holy Book. they were not Christians as you and i think of them today.
-while some of the principles written into our bill of rights and Constitution might overlap with the principles put forth by Christianity, this is only a conincidence of good moral judgement. a great many of them have no source in Christianity and in fact were meant to stop religions like Christianity from ever gaining political power
i will smile and enjoy my day when my fellow countrymen stop shoving their bibles in my face and telling me this is what our country was founded on. STOP REWRITING HISTORY AND THE CONSTITUTION. ITS THE WAY IT IS FOR A REASON

Yes, you are a US majority faction, however, we are not a Christian nation...even though, not true in reality, church & state are separate entities.
America is a conglomeration of every life form of this planet...that includes all cultures, all belief systems--everything. Our example is supposed to be a light unto this world that we CAN all work & play together...for the positive growth & well-being of the Whole. It has little, if anything, to do with any faith-filled beliefs being dominant...domineering, oh, yes! But over & better than any other, definitely not!
Freedom is our belief here...simple as that!!!

Once upon a time the majority in the US also said that black people weren't real humans and didn't deserve the same rights as non-blacks.
A little farther back, the majority in the US said the Irish were sub-humans and it was all right to discriminate against them in housing and hiring.
Go back a little farther and you'll find the majority in the known world saying the earth is the center of the universe and saying otherwise was a crime and heresy.
Are you sure you'd rather listen to the majority in all instances instead of Jesus's command to Love all people?

If Christians were the majority and we had the rule we wouldn't be practicing abortion on demand and producing more porn than the other two porn producing countries put together. There would be no Las Vegas or Hollywood. We might not have so many societal issues such as poverty, child abuse and neglect cuz all the christians would open thier homes to the little ones. Maybe compared to North Korea we are a christian nation but in name only..not in deed and God is taking notice. Love in Christ, ~J~
