I've read alot of things on here that make sense and I'm starting to question my beliefs...it all makes sense, evolution, the big bang theory, science....

I was brought up Christian, had religion shoved down my throat as a teenager, went through a 'rebellious state' and studied wicca and paganism..and now...im starting to really question Christianity.....

How did you deal with it (when you were questioning if you even did)

Keep reading, keep learning, and keep asking questions -- it's ridiculous to suppose that humanity might have reached the pinnacle of its understanding of the Universe two thousand years ago, and that we should stop discovering and exploring simply on the say-so of a bunch of Bronze Age goatherders...

I think of it this way.I want the god of truth, period. Therefore,I embrace science and it's findings.I know a true god must fit in with what we know to be true, therefore,if there is a god,I am simply learning how said god did everything.A TRUE god,if it felt human emotions, would surely be pleased as I study creation. The man made versions do not fit the bill for what we know as truth.I also realize science has a limitation on creation.Yes,certainly our universe began with the Big Bang,at which time all the laws of our universe were set.Science cannot answer the ultimate "why"any better than the religions.Big bang,m-theory.God did it,who made god.Either way it comes to infinite regression. This is where philosophy comes into play. There must be a "first cause"or "god".There is really no way around it.On the other hand,we know the stories in the "holy books"are absurd. One then must start with the self, and determine what the actual nature of this "god"is.This is awakening. The path to true understanding. The big questions you must search inside yourself

How did I deal with it when I started questioning Christianity?

I read and did research on my own from an unbiased perspective. I read and learned more about Christianity and its history and other religions as well. I read books such as The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins and Letter to a Christian Nation by Sam Harris. I found the more I read, the less I believed [in Chrisitanity] and found that I never truly believed in the first place. It was, and still is, a very interesting journey.

Whether or not you discover that you do or do not still believe, you are better off questioning. An untested faith is not a faith worth having.

I've questioned it--even questioned the existence of God at some points. I'd agree with you that evolution and all makes a lot of sense. I'd also agree with all you atheists, that you need to question everything and find out for yourself what's true and what's not. This includes evolution and science. Evolution's not as firm as it claims to be. Check out http://www.scienceagainstevolution.org/index.htm for what a group of skeptical scientists has to say about the theory of evolution.
The most dangerous thing you can do is to accept that your questions don' t have answers. They do. There is truth out there, you just have to search to find it. If you're skeptical like I so often am, try http://www.allaboutthejourney.org/ . It's helped me a lot. Just don't give up, and don't ever settle for less than the truth.

I love science and I am a Christian. I never had religion shoved down my throat as a child. I used to be an agnostic. In my search for God, I did find some churches were enough to make you run off into the night screaming in terror. All I can say is read, and study and take time alone to think. It is good to question all the time. Faith is neither blind or stupid.

It is hard sometimes, but that is where belief should come into play. Get close to a Church, cling to it if you have to, pray, read the Bible, find another Christian that is strong in the faith to whom you can talk about doubts with. I know those sound like the basic answers but you may be surprised at how powerful they are. For the time being, I would avoid some of the wicca and pagan stuff as well, Philippians 4:8-9.
God Bless.

Questioning your beliefs is the best thing you have ever done.

The problem with religion is, just like you said, it is crammed down your throat. The worst part is the way religions teach that they are the ONLY true religion and EVERYBODY else is wrong. The Exclusivity of "we are saved, everyone else is damned," is very un-christlike.

A little over a year ago I went through the same thing. I took some intensive Anthropology and Evolution classes and just found they made to much sense to ignore. It was very hard for me. Eventually, through the logic I saw in these sciences and the hypocrisy i saw in so many I religions I realized that religion itself is wrong. It has been hard for my family and some friends, but they are slowly starting to see that morality and strenght of character have nothing to do with going to church every sunday. In fact, some of the worst people in the world go to church every sunday of the year.

Do not lose your spirituality and feel free to believe as you wish regarding deity. The best thing is to recognize that you do not need organized religion to think for you and program your thoughts into doing and believing as they wish.

Good luck. Think for yourself. You are doing great.

Try Paganism again....you get yo be open minded and decide on your own which religion is yours....is you did Wicca just to be rebellious then you definitely didn't go into a coven or really studied and therefore haven't really experienced it...I suggest you try and learn as much as you want. If Atheism works for you....great....just don't forget that Paganism accepts Science as truth because in Paganism all of Earth is Sacred and therefore finding out more about the universe helps us further understand this divine thing we live on.

I listened to my gut and common sense. If humans question something such as faith, there's a very valid reason. Our intuition or gut knows all and tries to tell us when something is not right. I had these warnings all my life. I ignored them because I thought everyone knew better than me. I was wrong and suffered for too many years before waking up. I've never been happier and wish I had listened and awakened long ago.
