There are millions of people walking around today who were pronounced dead at some point in the past. If it could be established beyond a reasonable doubt that Jesus walked the earth after his crucifiction, why wouldn't you conclude simply that he was taken down off the cross while he was still alive?

There were instances of people being taken down off the cross while still alive (cf. Flavius Josephus). It was rare, but it did happen. Why not assume that is what happened in this case, instead of believing an event took place that never occurred before in the history of the universe?

primoa is a prime example of a "good christian"

He doesn't question the bible, he just does what it says, like a good little follower...the church is very lucky to have such a devout follower....who never questions what he reads in his book...

Scripture also says that they speared his side, and that blood and water came out. Not only is his resurrection a miracle, but the rest of it is too. After he died on the cross, they removed his body from the cross, and placed him in a tomb, that took many men to move this boulder in front of the opening, which was the only way in or out of the tomb. 3 days after his crucifixion, someone went into the tomb, and found no body, only his garments.

1. The kind of torture he went through. 2. The Roman guards who stabbed his side and made sure he was dead knew what death looked like. Compared to people who would be on the cross still alive but passed out. 3. He was in a tomb with a stone rolled infront. For technically according to Jewish standard for death was 3 days.

His death is important for all that Jesus needed to be the atonement for all sins. He Lived a sinless life and needed to be a blood sacrafice. (blood shed to forgive sins) This one and only *Sinless* human sacrafice paid the debt mankind had to God.

Josephus in my opinion wasnt seen as an enemy of the state requiring such a humiliating death as Jesus. Jesus was the King of the Jews & Son of God and the Pharisees couldn't stand him challenging their power and authority.

Because I had a personal experience and encounter with Jesus.

When I was growing up, it was NOT in a "Christian" home. In fact, we were always taught that Jesus was a liar, possibly a lunatic, but above all else, very definitely dead!

So, when I actually had an encounter with Jesus (no, not physically, DUH!), I had to change my opinions about Him. Now I KNOW He is the Son of God who died as a ransom to pay the penalty for MY sins (and yours, too), then rose again the morning of the third day, BY HIS OWN POWER.

It's amazing how once you've met Someone, you can no longer deny His existence.

The Roman soldiers were present when Jesus died, who could have dared to go to the cross and take Jesus down while he was being guarded? The Bible says that He died and was buried, the Roman authotiry made sure of that after all they hated Him. Read abouth His death and resurrection you certainly will be enlightened

The nature of this forum does not avail itself to providing you with sufficient answer to your question. However, if you are really interested in knowing why people in modern times still believe in the resurrection of Jesus, I recommend reading an excellent book on the subject called "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel (link below).

Because the soldiers did not break Jesus' legs. They broke the legs of the two criminals next to him (to kill them) but they did not break Jesus' legs because he was already dead.

It could be.

But the death of Jesus is not the cornerstone of my faith. It does not matter to me if he were alive physically after this point or whether he died and came back.

He came to earth, He did the will of God, and he was crucified on the cross.

Because His heart was pierced to make sure that He was dead. The Romans did not crucify people to take them down before they died and give them a little scare.

The Romans were pretty thorough when they killed someone. I doubt they would have taken him down unless they were sure.

If the did take him down alive which you admit was rare they would have finished the job. When they realized he was still breathing.
