Hi, yesterday I cooked some hard boiled eggs. I boiled them in hot water on the stove, let them cool a tiny bit, drained some water out of the pot, and then let them cool some more. After a few minutes, I put them in a bowl, still warmish. Then, my brother, sister, and I each ate one. THEN, we left the hard boiled eggs on the counter in the bowl. Finally, it's the day after cooking these eggs, and I want one for breakfast. But first I need to know this: since the hard boiled eggs were never refrigerated, will they be harmful or bad to eat? I've never NOT refrigerated any hard boiled eggs. Please help!

Well, I've boiled eggs early in the morning [6am], left them outside on the counter and ate it that night at about 9pm. They were stil fine. Wouldn't keep them longer than 24hours out of the fridge though.
We've also taken hard-boiled eggs on trips for snacks and have eaten them after a whole day in a warm car. We and the eggs were absolutely fine.
The whole secret is that the shell must be intact, not cracked or anything like that. If its shelled, I won't recommend keeping it outside for long and then eating it.

Store eggs in the shell: Hard-boiled eggs in their shells can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks.
Store peeled eggs: Peeled hard boiled eggs can be stored in the refrigerator in a bowl of cold water to cover for about 1 week (change the water daily) - or in a sealed container without water (cover the eggs with damp paper towels) for the same length of time.

Leave them to cool first and when they are at room temperature then put them in the fridge. They should last a few days kept in the fridge. When you want to eat one take the shell of and check the smell, and the appearance as to just make sure they are still fine. Other than that BON APPÉTIT ! Hope this helped ! Happy Egg Eating !

It is not good to leave hard boiled eggs out side the fridge ,the best way to keep them is to peel them after boiling and refrigerate them ,submerged in slightly salted water .

I had always thought you must refrigerate eggs. And now I see all of these European stores selling boiled eggs that are all fancily colored for you, selling them pre- packaged and shelved. I was leary, but now I buy them and have eaten them for going on 5 years now. So far so good.

As long as the shells are intact and it's not unreasonably hot where you are, they should be fine after one night on the counter. If you have any left after this morning's repast, then you'll want to put them in the fridge.
