It hurt when pressed and made swallowing hurt too.

However, it has now started to go down - could it have been a gland thing - or what?

A swollen lymph gland. You're fighting an infection. If it doesn't disappear in a day or so get to your doctor for an exam.

It's one of the lymph glands that gets enlarged with diseases like the mumps. I'm not saying you have the mumps, but you had something in the area that was either inflamed or infected, most likely a tooth. If the sore throat continues or you develop a fever, best see a doctor. If not, make an appointment to have your teeth checked.

Probably it was a lymphatic gland or a Small sebaceous cyst. If it reabsorbs I would not worry about it.
If it is still there in a few days time, go and see your doctor.

I know the first thing people think of when they see a lump is a cancerous tumour... but in most cases it isn't anything serious. Just see your GP as soon as you can, but try not to worry about it!

What did you eat, sounds like some type of allergic reaction. See your Doctor quick, why fool around with amatuer MDs here.
