Ive been told its common practice to weed these people out of getting corporate jobs. Most compamies also create a hostile environment to introverts. This despite the fact the introversion is an inherited trait (i.e, your born with it). Should something be done about this.

As a business owner, you should have the right to do whatever you want, within reason, to make your business successful. You want your team to perform optimally for you and if someone is not helping your company succeed, they should not be there.

No, something should not be done about this. If someone who is an introvert does not speak up for themselves in a professional situation, that is their loss. Whether it be the loss of a promotion or a raise. Its a matter of opinion: trying to create a 'team-oriented workplace' a companies efforts to discriminate against its introverted employees or as a way of increasing productivity. Because someone is quiet and keeps to themselves it is unreasonable to expect that others are going to notice their abilities if they don't try to be noticed.

No. It should not be illegal to base your hiring on intangibles, things such as if the applicant will fit in and help the company be successful.
AND introversion is NOT inherited. If anything it may be learned behavior, you are not 100% born with it.
And unlike Downs Syndrome, or blindness at birth, it can be overcome. If you choose to.
Yeah, that will fix our problems, more laws and more restrictions against American employers. Why don't we just give up and close down all our companies and bring on the third world status we are slipping into.
Laws do not fix problems, they only justify the existance of more and ever bigger government.

I get what your saying and I agree. I am introverted to a point. I communicate when I need to or if someone else needs me to. I do not generally make friends at work. Work is business it is what I do to support my lifestyle, it is not my life. So I agree w/ you, there are those ppl who love to go to work & get involved in all the office gossip, I am not one of those ppl. If I happen to make a friend at work, fine, but I'm not going out of my way to do it. I don't go to the co. picnic's or x-mas parties, it's just not my thing. But those companies that feel that's how they want their employees to operate then I just won't work for those companies. I am a very private person and I don't mix business w/ pleasure.

Technically, what you describe is not discrimination. Corporations seek the most qualified individuals for positions which will assist the corporation in growth and profitability. Introverts are simply not all that good at free communication.

DJH,
Thank you for the giggles.
As a biz owner it is my legal right to employee some one based on their ablities to enhance or make profit for the biz.
the person not chosen is not being 'discriminated' against for what ever reason.
being forced to employ some one who does not fit is the first step to Communism.
the thing that needs to be done is - people accept they weren't needed.
