or a website that compares them? like the strength and wear, if one is stronger than the other. also, we went to a jewelry store and my FI found a tungsten band he liked for about $250 and then I went to walmart and was looking at the jewelery and saw tungsten bands for $60!!!! do you know why there would be such a dramatic price difference?

One thing to keep in mind is the strength of the metals. My fiance brought up a good point when he and I were looking at rings for him. He said that if there's ever a time where he'd need the ring cut off, he'd like for it to be cut easily. Titanium and Tungsten aren't easily cut off so he's getting a 14k white gold ring that's polished.

Another thing I thought of was that if there was ever a chance that he loses the ring or it gets damaged... a gold ring is easier to replace than one of those other metals.

Try looking up the info on wikipedia... that helped me with some facts.

Gold is a precious metal, $800/oz currently. It's guite soft, no good for tools, but it does not corrode or tarnish. It is very conductive electically and thermally. For jewelry is it is often alloyed with other metals to avoid wear and damage,

Titanium is pound for pound, stronger than steel. Hard to machine, but very good for tools. It does form an oxide, but does not "rust". I have a titanium crowbar, very light.

Tungsten is very heat resistant. I believe the wire inside light bulbs is made of tungsten. It's sometimes added to steel for springs.

It's the same as different qualities of gold. Pure tungsten is more expensive, but when it is mixed with a cheaper metal (called an alloy) it can still look the same but costs less.

gold is costly - and very um.. maluable..?
titanium sucks ***.

tungsten don't scratch - it's almost the strongest type of ring you could get.

price depends on several factors, but for the most part - walmart has always been a slagpit for cheap half-grade items. x3

Gold can be resized. With Tungsten, you can't resize it at all.
