Mike: Y!A works in mysterious ways. I've been "violated" for posting an answer to a question about the trial of Socrates, in which I suggested that the Athenians' hostility towards Socrates stemmed from his criticism of democracy as a system, and the fact that his students included Alcibiades (a notorious traitor to Athens) and Critias (one of hte tyrants who ruled Athens after its defeat in the Pelopponesian War). Apparently, my view of Socrates violates Y!A guidelines. It's better off you don't dwell on such things.
!!! and Rillifan: *Bangs head on desk in frustration.* Guys, before you invoke the First Amendment, could you take a class in Law 101 or something? Ri, you get 10 points for literature on your answer, zero points for legal expertise. Your words are pretty, but to the extent that they invoke law, they are nonsense. Yahoo is a private organization -- so the First Amendment is irrelevant here. Okay?

In all the time I have been in yahoo answers, I have only reported once and that was adamaska who posted a hateful question on beheading a user here on this forum. I stay away from the report button and received about 14 email violations since I have been here. I can count them since I don't delete them. I try my best to ask questions and purposely post questions that even I can't believe myself sometimes but it is a way to get the kids to answer, while I get insulted a lot. I still won't report anyone. To me, kids are just letting their emotions take the best of them. I still don't understand why yahoo would defend a anti semite.

David Duke is a racist and a known member and promoter of the Klu Klux Klan. Forget the notice, you did the right thing!!!! Shame on Yahoo.

Its clear that you did NOT get a violation notice for reporting someone. You apparently got a violation notion for violating the CG's by insulting another user in your answer (which I suspect was also non-responsive...another violation).
Y!Answers is not "defending an anti-Semite" when it insists that the CG's be obeyed. It is defending the CG's and it is intellectually dishonest to claim otherwise.
I am reminded of the time the ACLU went to court to protect the first Amendment rights of a Neo-Nazi group in the United States. That certainly separated those who genuinely believe in free speech from those who were, in the final analysis, no better than the Neo-Nazis they hated.
Intellectual freedom means nothing if you are not willing to extend it even to people, like David Duke, who are loathsome and contemptible.

Well they defend a lot of stupid things. Although someone promoting an antisemite might not be against the guidelines as it's not politically incorrect any longer.
The person who posed the question is probably the person who reported you. And that person is probably one of Yahoo's great "trusted reporters". Hey that's fair, right?
NOT.

That is ashame. I also reported an anti-semite and got a violation at one time. Yahoo needs to check this out better.

I reported the person urging us all to read David Duke, the notorious neo Nazi; guess I too can expect a violation notice. This really is getting absurd.

yahoo doesn't really read the posts I guess, it says if "enough people report this" in their terms. I got reported for asking if anyone liked Black/Blood pudding which is a real food!

I don't know if you posted an answer there, but if you did, and you encouraged answerers to report that s**tface's question, then they might consider it a violation.
Dude, this is my sixth account, so trust me, I understand the frustration :))) Gotta keep on doing what we are here to do!
