I am just starting to learn. I am British and have bought myself a 'total immersion' CD ROM. The first CD teaches you key words, grammar and phrases, and the second one is all in Hebrew to test you.

I do not have the money to stay in Israel to become physically immersed in the language. What else can I do? I am going to Israel on a month-long trip and would like to know a little conversational Hebrew by then, July next year.

Is this a feasible goal?

Any help welcome. Thanks.

You may be able to find DVD's of Hebrew films in your library. The combination of action and speaking will help you understand the language. Also, if there are subtitles, it will also help. You can watch the film several times and since most films have everyday language in contrast to newscasts, you'll learn a lot more.

Listen to Israeli radio on Internet. That would be next best thing to immesion. If you were in Israel it would feasible goal to start talking basic language by next July. But learning it outside of Israel is a chalenge. If you can find a Hebrew speaker to talk with and to help you, that would help.

Hebrew is not so difficult as I use to thought.
If you don't study hardly you will not learn appropriate.
I think you must to read the bible in Hebrew or other book.
and watch movies in it.
