Yes, it was. The militant Islamic extremist regime in power at the time—the Taliban—was harboring Al Qaeda, another radical militant Islamic group which was responsible for dozens of unprovoked attacks which killed thousands of defenseless, unsuspecting American and British citizens. It seems to me that many people, quite possibly including you, have no real knowledge of history or why we are in Afghanistan at all. I think you just wrote this question so you could show how clever you are for saying “Britainistan.”

Britainistan? Where the f*ck are you from anyway? Can't speak for your ghetto, mate, but the Muslims in Scotland live nice and peacefully alongside the rest of us. Away and get back in your box. Don't come out until you've found some brain cells somewhere. I know it'll be tricky for you, but keep trying... for a long, long time.

Given the Afghanistan was home to the Taliban, and the terrorist group that perpetrated the worst atrocity in peacetime was sheltered there, yes it was right to invade Afghanistan.

What else would you have done? Leave them where they were and not punish the supporters of terrorism?

I truly resent the fact the you refer to Great Britain as Britainistan, that you did not capitalize Was, America, Islamic, State, and Well. I am an American and belief strongly in what we are doing in Afghanistan. Next we should kill the poppy fields there and cut of the flow of heroin. By doing this terrorism would run out of money.

Next time you sprout hate like that, try to think first. Have a nice day.

Lets get the facts straight as many seem to be rewriting history to their own liking.

The Taliban were backed by the American Administration as an alternative to the Communist backed Government then in power. Sandy Gall, British media presenter extrordinaire, described them as "heroic freedom fighters" in their struggle to remove the yoke of communism from the people of Afghanistan.

In 2001 following a mass media campaign it was decided by NATO, including the aforementioned Americans, that the Taliban were not the heroic figures they first thought and were in fact nothing better than oppressive Islamic thugs who were harbouring known terrorist groups within their borders.

NATO entered Afghanistan in 2001 - 2 years before 9/11 and the pronouncement of the "war on terror".

9/11 was a direct result of the invasion of Afghanistan, carried out by Osama Bin Laden's group Al Qaeda for the invasion & removal of his allies - the Taliban - from power.

The invasion itself was based on humanitarian grounds. The fact that many NATO countries did not agree with America aiding the Taliban to power in the first place has meant that many will not sacrifice their troops now in a conflict that can only be described as the new Northern Ireland/Vietnam.

Yes but I feel you are trolling for answers that are on the negative side of the spectrum . We could put those we removed from power back in charge, drop you off there and then in two years we will ask you. How does that sound?
Is it right for people that make no sacrifice, have no knowledge of conflict, only get there information second hand to comment as SME(Subject Matter Expert)? You can take your politics all you want and wave them around and discuss them with whom ever and feel nice. Men and Women like myself make change, it takes a bit of fire power but also a big heart and an understanding that we(Soldiers) there to help people. You snippity lil' trolls that try to apply you politics to real world life do not do much but waste time.

Have a nice day ;-)

The Troll, might be able to write it, but, I doubt if he could pronounce Britainistan.

America is spelt with a capital "A" and the word Afghan's is started with a capital "A".

And, the word well in "well was it", should have been started with a Capital "W".

He refers to it as an "invasion" I would say it was "liberation" from Muslim Fundamentalism.

Is this the best we can hope for from the British Labour Party's, "Educational Campaign"?

ABSOLUTELY! Not only did we wreak havoc on and all but destroy the Taliban, a radical and murderous sect of a false religion, but we brought a semese of freedom and democracy to a backwards and repressed people. Until we went in and verthrew their wicked rule, they prohibited TV and information, prohibited freedom of speech, they murdered women (gunshots to the head as halftime entertainment at their football/soccer matches) women were forbidden to read, write, gain an ducation, dirve a car, or even show thier faces in public. Yes. We did the right thing.
