Yes indeed i can!
Religion is about keeping rules and fitting in with the group.
Relationship is about knowing the reality of God in my life.
I enjoy reading the bible; but even more it is great when My Heavenly Father speaks into my life as i read.
Prayer is not about reciting some religious diatribe; it is about sitting in His presence. I pour out my problems and receive His joy and strength to cope. I pray for others and know that He is only too glad to release His power into their lives. He is so real, so present.
Have you ever been in a room with someone and closed your eyes? You cannot see them, yet their is the sense of them being there in the room. That is the way it is with God; my eyes cannot see Him, yet i can sense His presence.
I am sure, if you love Jesus, that you too, feel His presence with you, wherever you go.

I think religion is about a bunch of do'and don'ts. It's talking theology etc. Making arguements etc.But it's not too personal. Having a relationship with Jesus Christ on the otherhand is the real everyday I can speak to Him about anything kind of thing. Most religious people miss the point. We're meant to be the Bride of Christ. That's about relationship.

If religion is done right, it is all about relationships - our relationship with God, our relationships with other people.
In James we are told that the "pure religion accepted by God the Father was to look after widows and orphans and to keep oneself unpolluted from the world".
Good advice then, still holds today.

In Christianity someone who has a disdain for the word religion is usually one who wants a God who serves them which they call a personal relationship because the create their own concept of god. Orthodox, traditional Christians are comfortable with the word religion as they are drawn by the Holy Spirit to serve God and have a personal relationship in God's will. God's will is that we worship Him and follow His commandments which is taught in "religion". What these people who detest the word "religion" are saying is, "I prefer to make my own god rather than to worship in truth the God taught by Christ and the apostles." For the rest of us, religion is serving our God in Spirit and truth within His will and not ours. May the Lord have mercy.

Relegion is the broad path.
Relationship with Jesus Christ is the straight and narrow path.
It is not about relegion- it is about Jesus! And when we are saved we receive this relationship with Jesus Christ- we can talk to Him anytime, He hears us and teaches us through His word. He knows our every thought and action-- and is able to keep us from sinning--- He understands what we go through- the Bible shows us that He is not only our Savior and Lord, He is our Friend! He died for us on the cross so that we may live!
Matthew 7:13-14 says "Enter through the narrow gate for the gate that is wide leads to destruction and many are those who enter by it, but the gate that is narrow leads to life and few are those who find it"

'Religion' is following rules because you have to in order to please people, and want to make them think you are a good person, or a good follower of that faith system.
Relationship on the other hand is following, and maintaining an open communication with a Person. It is, in respect to Christianity, being open to being changed by His power because of LOVE, it is obediance because of LOVE, it is self-sacrifice because of LOVE. It is walking and talking, listening and submitting to the "I AM".
Religion is static, Relationship is alive and fluid.
I believe Jesus alone offers RELATIONSHIP.
All else, all others only offer religion.
And because of that those who put their faith in Jesus are enabled to develop RELATIONSHIP with others which are life changing and life affirming.

A religion is a strict set of beliefs and practises, whereas a relationship is a intimate closeness with another. I prefer to think that I have relationship with God, that he is forever near me, my master and my friend.

Religion is basically something that is done habitually. Christianity is a relationship with God, not religion.
