Can't think of the worst food but I set light to sausages I was cooking under the grill.
OMG the flames were about 2 foot high and that's not an exaggeration!
Fortunately I live in a fairly small bungalow, the patio doors were open so I managed to grab the whole tray and throw it into the back garden!

I have to admit I was fairly shaky afterwards thinking how close I'd come to burning down the house!

Back when microwaves were new (yes, I'm that old!), I put a couple of slices of frozen bread in the microwave to defrost. The MW I had was before digital timers, so I just turned the dial and left it to unfreeze the bread. I actually forgot the microwave was on until black smoke started pouring out. The bread was totally burnt. I could not get the smell out of the microwave and everything I cooked in it tasted burnt after that. I took the microwave back to the store to ask if they could clean it but they gave me a new one, thinking the timer had gotten stuck (but it was me not the microwave, I confess). I selected a digital model as a replacement. To this day, if I even slightly burn something, like popcorn, I immediately boil water with ground cinnamon in it in the microwave to get rid of the smell. After all these years, the smell of that burnt bread still hasn't faded from my memory.

About 20 years ago when microwaves were new my mum put a christmas pudding in. It said steam for 2 hours so thinking that microwaves cooked quicker she put it in for 30 mins. After 20 mins there was this awful smell and when we went into the kitchen there was smoke everywhere and a very burnt pudding. It smelt really bad. She is much better now.

Some years ago I collected some 'fresh duck eggs' and put them on to boil -they were NOT fresh and exploded up the kitchen wall and all over the ceiling. The smell of sulphur lingered for about a fortnight!
My neighbour put a Christmas pudding in the microwave and turned it on for 2 hours instead of 2 minutes ! He then fell asleep and only woke up when the Fire Brigade arrived because his kitchen was on fire and we thought he may have died from smoke inhalation!!

I don't burn (but I HATE the smell of burnt toast in the works canteen).
I attempted my first shepherds pie last weekend & I thought it'd taste great but we had to eat it with a spoon as the mashed potato had too much milk in it & it went like soup! Lol!

I burnt a peep. Me and my friend were putting peeps in the microwave, then watching them grow and expand. We put chocolate on top of them, and then melted a jelly been for blood. We didn't take in to account that the peep was masking the paper plate. I took out the paper plate and it was burnt to a crisp. The peep was black and shriveled. Talk about a happy easter!

burnt milk is bad. I did this when i was making hot chocolate and cooked the milk too long.
I had to throw away the pan and air out the house for a week.
Burnt beans are equally gross. It smells like an artificial fart and ruins the smell of your house for at least 9 days.
Burnt eggs are worse than burnt milk and beans. I had to move out of my house after i burnt five eggs.

Left a pot of eggs on to boil, got busy wrapping presents and didn't remember them until they started exploding! Left quite a mess on the ceiling, walls, and stove. Also left permanent egg shaped spots in the bottom of the pot. It took months for the smell to completely dissappear!

The most I burn is rice...I sometimes forget I have it on and when rice burns to a certain point, one has to throw the whole lot away. I have tried eating the top but the burnt flavour is vile.
