That is an abbreviation for a particular denomination that is well known for their door to door witnessing to promote their religious beliefs which makes door to door witnessing more difficult as a means of evangelism for those promoting the true gospel of Jesus Christ. They are considered an occult by many as their beleifs are against the Spirit of Christ.
"Je·ho·vah's Witness (jĭ-hō'vəz)
n.
A member of a religious denomination founded in the United States during the late 19th century in which active evangelism is practiced, the imminent approach of the millennium is preached, and war and organized governmental authority in matters of conscience are strongly opposed."

Jehovah Whitness.... I take it you know what that means.

In the UK, it is likely you will be hearing that term fairly often in the next few days, due to a recently publicised case inloving a mother of newly born twins who died, possibly as a result of refusing a blood tranfusion as it is against her religion (She was a Jehova Whitness).

The slash between J and W is a mystery.
However, the J+W represent:

Please don't forget to add the 'H'.

J/W or Jehovah's Witnesses are not a cult and are actually a denomination of Christianity. They do believe in the Devil, but not in that of a physical hell. It is true that they spread their message door to door, hence the name witnesses. They are often misrepresented and judged unfairly.

J/W is Jehovah's Witnesses and it is a cult that does not follow the bible but has their own rules and do not believe in the devil or in hell. They usually go around door to door witnessing and they believe in Salvation in works and they are very nice people but deceived
