Lol you're giving him way too much credit. Yes dogs are smart but he's not going to make the connection...
I have bad breath ---> yawning exposes my breath ---> yawn more and use my bad breath to my advantage.
If you want him to stop doing this, as soon as he yawns in your face, turn away and dont give him what he wants, he'll soon come to realise that this is not the way of getting attention.
See a vet they may be able to tell you how to get rid of the bad breath or atleast minimise it. Dogs are sweet and they lick you but they have the most disgusting mouths, you absolutely do not know what goes in that mouth all day.

Try brushing his teeth regularly. You can get special dog toothpaste that is meant to fresh dogs breath, just ask your vet where to get it. Also, maybe take him to the vet, really bad breath can be a symptom of mouth problems so get it checked. You can also buy dog treats from pets shops and stuff that are meant to be good for dogs breath so look into it. Good luck!

Try Oxyfresh Pet Oral Hygiene Solution in your
dog's drinking water. You can buy it at most pet stores or at the vets. Call your vet up and ask if they stock it. It really works. It's about $7 a bottle. You can also try buying it on-line. Having your dogs teeth checked and cleaned especially if it's a small breed is advisable. Hope it helps you and makes your dog more kissable!

Seems you worry more about your gentle nose as opposed to your dogs health.
Saying that, perhaps it's time you took your dog /I hesitate to say friend/ to a vet for a thorough check up.
The notion of your dog breathing into your face on "purpose" is ridiculous.
