When I was a new and geniune Christian I had a woman tell me that over eating would send me to hell. I had so much conflicting information and you know what...this is what is referred to in the Bible as the City of Babylon (the city of confusion). God calls us out of this place and into His Will which is plainly understood by those who seek Him in His Word. I believe this because I have seen it time and again. Oh and also..one thing that pastoral care tells people often is that when you give your life to Christ, you will experience such peace and blessings and all things will be peachy and keen. Not so. You have the parable of the sower working in you right now and the devil knows it..that seed has been planted but if its not solid and secure it won't grow...adversity, doubt, distraction can remove that seed. How do you keep that from happening....trust and obey. Trust in the Blood of Christ cuz Satan is gonna try to get you to sin against God and give up living a life for Him. He'll plague you with whatever you are weakened most by. Without the solid foundation of scriptural understanding to build on your house is built on a foundation of sand and can be washed away the first time trouble strikes and so it goes...when you are having the most difficulty and still find that you love the Word of God and want to be in it...when you desire to go to God in prayer and have not lost that calling...you have not grown dull and spiritless...then you know that Satan would like nothing more than to devour you...but he can not. You are written on the palms of His Hands. Jesus says..if you remain in me..I will remain in you. So you obey His commandments, trust in His atonement for you and consume scripture as the table laid out before your enemies and don't let the understanding of another or your own understanding put a stumbling block before you. Milk before solid food. Salvation is a sanctification process. When you confess Christ you are saved...just like the theif on the cross...you could go tomorrow and at times I wonder if that wouldn't be the easier way. To discover Christ at the last minute and be saved then POOF...yer outta here. Instead here we are confessing Christ and like Peter we need to constantely restore ourselves by repeating that confession over and over again because we deny Him so much with our actions. Eventually, it will get easier...take it from one who has studied scripture for the last 11 years. Don't wish for peace, don't desire contentment and a settling of this struggle. The more you struggle the stronger you are and the blessings of gifts and insite and faith will abound. God will do both..He will speak to your heart and guide you with His Word. I know...I've been where you are at. Remember..Jesus says to perservere. His burden is after all much lighter. Love in Christ, ~J~

"Stressing out" is one of the burdens God will lift from your heart as you continue on your journey in Gods word. Continue to pray, praise and listen to God and all things will come. If you feel it is wrong it probably is. How you stop, analyze, and approach the issue is what God is trying to do for you. Give him a chance and don't look for answers right away all the time. When he wants you to know he will make sure you know. As God works through other people he might give you a bit of information from a Friend, family member, or even here. Don't make things harder than they are. Keep an open mind and an open heart and God will work in mysterious and amazing ways for you. All he asks is that you continue to have a close relationship with him and he will do the rest. GOOD LUCK & GOD BLESS!!

Don't worry about doing wrong, you'll do that just fine. We all do that just fine. Learn to do what is right, and what is right is trusting God for what he promised.
That's how you started being a Christian, right? You trusted God to provide you with salvation, and you told Him, that's an act of faith. And you could not have done it unless the Holy Spirit was involved with you in the first place. People who are not chosen like you apparently were have no interest in being a Christian.
If you are really a Christian, you can e-mail me, or IM me, and I will tell you what I know.

Hey,
First fo all, God through His Holy Spirit convicts us of sins that we are doing. It can be in many ways through a sermon, or a youth group / prayer meeting, or through good advice through a friend, or through your own personal devotions to God. (That is why they are so important to consistantly have your quiet times every day).
Secondly is this negative person a faithful trusted christian? The advice of a faithful christian friend is can often be helpful, because they know where we can stumble, and help us in our daily walk. Examples are King David and Jonathon, Mary (mother our Lord) and Elizabeth (mother of John the Baptist).
Thirdly Paul said in one of his letters (sorry I couldnt find it just now) It is God who judges, not man. He was speaking of eating meat offered to idols I think. So Paul did what was right in the sight of God, not the Jewish customs.
Fourthly and most importantly. When you become a Christian you believe that Jesus has died for you and has paid the full debt for you. Not only yesterdays sins, but todays, and tomorrows as well. This is does not mean we can just go on sinning. A true Christian hates sinning. (Romans 6 : 1 - 3) The main thing to remember is to repent for your sins, with the motive of never doing them again. David sinned terrably with Bathsheba and Uriah, but He repented when convicted of his sin, when Nathan the prophet told him the story about the poor famer and his lamb.
Find someone who has been a christian a while, someone you can trust, and talk to freely Ask them to be your spiritual buddy. A person who will make you accountable, and pray with you and for you, and have readings with etc. I hope this helps. God Bless You.

You could be freaking out because you are just insecure about your new faith. You could be freaking out because the Holy Spirit is convicting you of something He wants to change in your life and you are rebelling against it. Just remember, your life is to be lived for an audience of one (God), not for those of us here on Earth. One comment can be dismissed as someone being nit-picky. If it comes up from more than one person at different times.... maybe that's something to look at.
Just remember, most often, people are trying to be helpful even if they don't have any tact.

A scripture that might help: Galatians 5: 16-26
Life by the Spirit
16 So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 17 For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. 19 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
God knows we aren't perfect, He knows our hearts, so don't stress yourself out worrying about things like that, we aren't perfect, just do your best to live your life using the message above and keeping your relationship with God strong, by acquiring accurate knowledge of Truth from His Word, the Bible, by applying this Truth to your daily life, and by helping spread the good news of His Kingdom.

When I first was saved I went through this also.I was afraid to even be myself.I thought I had to be perfect. Is that how you feel?
You want God's approval on every little thing. You are worried you are going to mess up.And you listen to people. And they say things and you feel hurt inside.Right?
Answer:When you pray say Jesus i Praise You and I worship You and Thank You Jesus For my salvation. Then instead of talking Just Listen. And through prayer God told me to tell you this; SALVATION IS A GIFT AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN EVER DO TO REPAY JESUS FOR SAVING YOU.YOU MIGHT FEEL YOU OWE GOD SOMETHING FOR SAVING YOU>ALL HE WANTS IS YOUR LOVE AND COMPANIONSHIP>OK

You're ranting out of context.
How can anyone else honestly give you their opinions if you haven't requested a specific subject for those opinions?
For the record though... if one other person's opinion gets you in a panic, you're clearly barking up the wrong tree....
Calm down and try to figure things out for yourself. Don't be so damned socially dependant. Creatures "born of sin" won't be able to lead you "out of sin".
