I was raised southern baptist and would sing about being washed in blood of lambs and would take a symbollic communion every blue moon. These images evoke fear and negativity in me.

I now follow a more spiritual path where I believe in healing white light and a connectedness to everything that is with that center being pure love. This new way of thinking has me praising nature and thanking the earth for it's beauty and giving appreciation for the very magnificence of life.

Why do religious people label what I believe in as a cult? Why is what I am doing viewed as witchcraft or the occult?

What of the practice of eating the flesh and drinking the blood of a murdered martyr? This is accepted as normal and correct; while my belief that I can access God directly by going within my own mind is viewed as bologna! And I believe that with education and understanding of universal fact that I too can acchieve Christ consciousness... can't wait to hear these replies!!

I like your answer, Cricket. You stand by your beliefs without dissing me for mine. You have my respect. If all christians were as enlightened as you, perhaps I wouldn't be so bitter. It is the people who condemn me for my beliefs and attack my truth that make me so mad. Thank you for your honesty, and bless you in your Truth.

Eloquently stated, Kez. You also have my respect. How is it that I (a 'witch') found kind words from a Christian and an Atheist in a forum in the Religion and Spirituality section?

This is an awakening, truely. I think that the more enlightened people get together and seek each other out, the closer we will get to real answers to our social problems. Keep up the good work, guys... we are starting to get it!!

thank you all for your replies. i didn't get any response from hard-core Bible-thumpers, though... did they just pass over my question in an attempt to blind themselves from other's points of view? A closed mind is a sign of ignorance and insolence.

Why is it so hard to believe that everyone is equal and everyone comes from one source and to return to that source is inevitable? The one thing that everyone agrees that we have in common (death) ends up being the fear that separates us from each other and from source energy when there is not any difference.

Perhaps division of the social class is necessary to keep those in the know safe from the damnation of mediocrity.

Before Christianity really took off there were many people that had similar beliefs to you. They were called Pagans and found a lot of their spirituality in nature, but were mainly polytheistic.

It was the Roman empire, under emperor Constantine, that really drove the spread of Christianity. It is thought that Constantine used Christianity to unite and keep the empire under control. To keep the peace he would need to make sure that everyone was Christian which meant no contenders like Paganism. So Paganism was made out to be something terrible to encourage pagans to shut up or convert. Anyone that refused to convert was killed because people were made to believe they were 'witches'. This belief has co existed with Christianity since, hence the belief that you are a witch.

It doesn't mean that your beliefs are bad. Some people are just unwilling to even try and understand other peoples beliefs and views about the world. I mean I am Atheist but I can understand and respect your beliefs and will not try and dissuade you from developing your own ideas about the world around us.

I believe that Anna reinforces the vigor of the ink of the pupil. We might now not recognize that martyrs had been invaluable with out the ink of the Bible, the ink of the pupil. A martyr now not recorded might be each localized and brief-lived in reminiscence. So, whilst the martyrs act probably of the holiest nature, they're stylish at the pupil to make that act recognized over the years and to all. The pupil then again has no use of martyrs for his aspects to be made. So, I believe with the martyrs being stylish and the students unbiased, I will lean to the ink of the pupil.

I have been Pagan for 12 years and I can attest that I now feel more at peace then I ever felt as a Christian. You are on the right path miss, keep on keeping on. I refuse to get into a battle of wits with religion...most fanaticasl of ANY religion are missing any sign of having "wits" anyhow..so its a waste of time and good energy. Just wanted to give you a ^5 for your choices. Don't give into the fear of the brainwashed masses. (Also it could be seen as occultism or craftish because many of us Witches out there believe in the power of healing white light and use it often. It could be too, that if you are a "Light Bringer" or something close to that, its considered Neo-pagan/new age religion which is of course not the path of most fierce Christians. A lot of the time they group all Pagans under one umbrella term and judge and try to damn us all to the "hell" that their religion ha created, over hundreds of years...anyone that didn't see eye to eye with them were to be punished. It says right in the bible, Exodus 22:18, thou shalt not suffer a witch/sorcerer to live...f you are not Christian...then you must be evil and into socerery, especially if you are using concoctions of herbs etc to heal yourself, sad but true in many cases. I know many people will be offended by this, I am not saying all Christians are like that...its just proven over many many years that MANY of them are. Peace, love and light.

Blessed Be.

Well, good for you.

However, I'm a Christian, and I AM standing in the Light....the Light of Christ, that is! I thank the Lord for every day I'm alive, and for this beautiful Earth that He created.

You are entitled to your beliefs. I am entitled to mine.

Much more beautiful in your present state. That ritualized cannibalism has always bothered me.

I live in a predominately Southern Baptist state, and it seems once a month or so someone tells me "Yeah, but once you are washed in the blood of the lamb..." (making me nauseous).

PRIDE

You revel in the glory of the flesh, and enjoy a fallen Creation to fulfill the lust of the flesh. What you consider love, is but lust. The world teaches.....love at first sight, but if you are really honest, it is really LUST AT FIRST SIGHT.

The Lord's Supper, is symbolic, in remembrance of the gracious Jehovah Jesus who is the ONLY mediator between God and man. In your pride, you think you may be your own mediator/mediatrix and atone for your own sin.

May God have mercy upon us, that we may indeed revel in the glory of Redemption, the redemption of the fallen Creation
by the only Redeemer - Jehovah Jesus

I'm an atheist, but if I had to choose a religion to be the dominant paradigm in the US, I'd choose this over Christianity any day. Christianity is a cult -- it's just a very successful one.

Honestly... your way is no more or less a flight of fancy than theirs.

It is just a convenient distraction to keep your mind pre-occupied and well away from the task of fulfilling your biological imperitive... leaving that in the crude but moderately capable hands of your instinct.

And as for love... it is the equivalent of becoming someone's siamese twin to the extent that it becomes more difficult for both of you to stay alive as you each share double the share of pain and injury.
