The stink that makes urine a good bleach. It's the ammonia. content. (Don't believe me? Check the ingredients on a bottle of Mr.Clean.)

First of all that is gross! Why would you put pee in a bucket? Are you doing some kind of experiment or something? I don't think I would want to smell pee in a bucket after a week's time, for that fact I don't even like the smell of pee when someone goes into the bathroom and doesn't flush it! That is one of my biggest pet peeves, but of course I think it has a reason for smelling bad after all the bacteria and fungus growing on it! Yuk!!!!

Besides growing bacteria (which produce toxins that can smell) after being left out in a bucket, as urine evaporates the biproducts and natural amonias in it would be more concentrated, increasing the stink factor...

water has nothing for bacteria to work on where as the other has nurients etc for bacteria to thrive and therefore smell
