Hi good day to everyone. I just had my eye examined and I just would like a layman's interpretation of my results.
This are the ff. data :

[REF] VD : 13.5
SPH - (-0.50)
CYL - (-0.50)
AX - (105)

[REF]
SPH - (-0.50)
CYL - (-0.75)
AX - (55)

This was done by a machine on which I seat on a machine and I focus on a certain object inside (in this case a RED HOUSE).
The machine is a CANON RK-5 via the result printed.

If anybody could help me out here. Thanks!!

Thanks for all the answers. She explained to me that I had a mild astigmatism (which gets me REAL dizzy). I just wanted to know if how I can determine the grade of my glasses? My optometrist frightens me (he does not want multi-coated lenses, contact lenses and lasik surgery). ehehehe.

A refraction by machine is not really an eye examination, it is only an estimate of distance refractive error. The results show a small amount of myopia and astigmatism but the amount is within the error range of the instrument so the print out you have is meaningless.

To determine if you need glasses you should have a exam by an eye doctor who will measure your unaided acuity at both far and near, determine both distance and near refractive error by a personal subjective test, and check the health of your eyes.

What LindyN said is right. Those machines can be off and it is possible you may not need glasses at all. What did your eye doctor tell you after you had the full exam? It is best to listen to those results and not the results of the eye test machine.

Well those machines are not totally accurate but it shows that you have a mild prescription and mild astigmatism. With that prescription someone would probably wear glasses at a computer or driving at night or when its raining. Hope this helps!!
